@@donnadiel THANK YOU, and that's honestly my biggest gripe with those new pokemon. Some say the designs are very weird looking, and i agree but so did Ultra Beasts and i think it works to show that they're not of this world/time period. I think having past forms based on not fully evolved mons is meant to imply that stone evolutions were a development later down the line (since misdreavus, jigglypuff, and magneton all evolve by stones now)

@@cactusalucano4013 Yeah, Magnezone in universe is supposed to have originated from a mutation that Magneton got when interacting with Sinnoh´s Mount Coronet, alongside Probopass. It´s not an "original" final form of Magneton. The thing about Paradox mons is that they aren't actually past variants. They seem to be based off depictions seen in universe books, implying that they aren't actually from the past. On the naming convention of Paradox Pokemon, they all sound like rough translations of East Asian names and monikers. I remember hearing that in Chinese, since the characters represent syllables, they make combos to refer to other things. For example, 'electric brain' means computer, 'big bear cat' means panda, and 'flying machine' is, well, an airplane. I guess maybe the Paradox Pokemon names are translations of the names they had in their times assuming civilization either did exist way back when or still exists that far ahead. Since Game Freak and Nintendo are based in Japan, that would explain why the names sound the way they do. But I am not Asian nor do I speak any other languages besides English and a bit of Spanish at the moment, so take that with a grain of salt. Though personally, I would like it better if they took a route similar to the Ultra Beasts where they are referred to by these 'nicknames' until upon capture we learn their true names.

I must say, the past Dragapult probably should be Dragon Water instead of Dragon Ground. From what we have found and studied of Diplocaulus, its thought the animal was completely aquatic. It still is one hell of a neat design though. And hell, if the paradox pokemon are replications of the past or future, being whats effectively an outdated paleo reconstruction would actually fit very well for that!

I feel like the two-word names are not the true names, but the in-game classification of the Paradox Pokemon, like how Pikachu is the "Mouse Pokemon" (except the legendaries. Koraidon and Miraidon are 100% their in-game true names). For example, if more research was done on, say... Great Tusk, for example, it would probably become something like "Protophan, the Great Tusk Pokemon" rather than "Great Tusk, the Paradox Pokemon". Same with future forms, like Iron Treads becoming something like "Neophan, the Iron Treads Pokemon" instead of "Iron Treads, the Paradox Pokemon". Then again, this is just my dumb little theory. I know those were pretty mid-tier new names for the past and future Donphans btw, but I didn't just wanna call them "Donphan". Same reason we don't call both Koraidon and Miraidon "Cylizar".

I really love the concept of past paradox mons especially. I recently made a video with bad audio about 1 particular paradox mon that didn't appear in the game yet and how it ties into the lore of the legendary beasts. There aren't much facts and mostly it is a common theory what the legendary beasts used to be, but I feel interested in the lore for the first time since gen 2 what it means for the origin of the beasts, Ho-oh's powers and the Pokemon that people theorized were originally the legendary beasts. I think the past Pokemon not all being fully evolves is nice as a flavor since it shows that after time past and the climate changes and whatnot, the Pokemon that have the genetic materials of the past paradox mons needed to find another way to adapt, which came in form of literal evolution. Even Salamence who might have gotten stronger taps can tap into its pre-historic genetic material through Mega Evolution and I think that is a nice touch. Past Volcarona kinda looks like an inbetween of Larvarsa and Volcarona. It also focuses on physical attack like Larvarsa and its bug typing. The future version is more focused on the evolved Volcarona and fully embraces the advancement of evolution as it focuses on the special attack and speed stat of Volcarona trying to improve it. Not to mention embracing the Fire Typing and taking advantage of the Fiery Dance signature move Volcarona obtained after evolving from Larvarsa. There seems also the theme that non of the mons have Steel Typing which represents technology and future. Of all Pokemon that could get a Paradox form, I feel Gyarados might have been a good canditate for a past counterpart as it represents a Dragon that seemed to have been demoted for being too aggressive and even it's mega is Dark Type which is the Evil Type in Japanese. So I could see a giant dragon called Violent Serpent with Water/Dragon Typing that speciallizes in powerful offense and decent speed. But I think the developters went out of their way to only give Dragon Typing to the cover Pokemon. Maybe we could have also gotten a Pokemon that has the genetic material of several other Pokemon. Like something that looks like Luvdisc and Alomomola. Or a sea creature that has a horn like Golking, the fins like Seadra, fangs of Sharpedo, eyes of Garchomp and the body + colorscheme of Milotic.

A little random but here’s what it’d be like if all the Ancient Paradox mon (aside from Koraidon) had names just like normal mon: Great Tusk - Primitusk (primitive + tusk) Brute Bonnet - Mushrute (mushroom + brute; second half also sounds like ‘root’) Sandy Shocks - Maglodyte (magnet + troglodyte) Scream Tail - Gigglyguff (giggly (I imagine that it giggles pretty loud) + gigante (Spanish for “giant”, since many ancient creatures tend to be way bigger than their modern counterparts) + guff (as in foolish talk or ‘guffaw’, a boisterous laugh (thanks to @masterenlightenment5040 for this idea)); following the naming convention of the Jigglypuff line was the best idea I had in mind) Flutter Mane - Flutteruja (flutter + bruja (Spanish for “witch”)) Slither Wing - Slipterona (slip + pteron (Greek for “wing”) + -rona (same ending as Volcarona)) Roaring Moon - Roarescent (roar + crescent + fluorescent, which can mean vividly colorful but is mainly defined as emitting light after absorbing light or other electromagnetic radiation) Alright, time for a Bonus Round! Elder Bunker - Acanthulhu (Acanthaster (genus name of the crown-of-thorns starfish) + Cthulhu (in reference to both Sollasina cthulhu and the Lovecraftian fellow that it’s named after)) Piercing Cut - Archertip (archaeo (relating to prehistory) + archer + chert + tip (of a spear and/or arrow); the “Ar-“ can also derive from Artemis, the goddess of hunting, since Aegislash’s name already references Greek mythology with the aegis) Marsh Jet - Tetropel (tetrapod + propel; this might be the hardest to work on ngl) Crash Giant - Quividras (quiriquinensis & parvidens (two specific names of Aristonectes, the longest known plesiosaur) + -dra (as in dragon) + -ras (same ending as Lapras); there’s also ‘quiver’ since I’m pretty sure that’s how a small creature would react to something massive and long, aside from being in awe I guess)

I love the name ideas, but if you'd like, I'd suggest making "Gigglyfluff" into "Gigglyguff" The "guff" stands for talking nonsense, gibberish if you will, which is often associated with cavemen, and also pulls in from "guffaw" which means a loud boisterous laugh. Really makes me hope in the apparent DLC that they let us figure out their true names.

Add a bite mark shape/bear trap shape pattern on the Marsh Jets face (like the star on garchomps head) and I would call the design perfect. For context, the species or group of species Dragapult is based on are very often found with their face/snout missing-because Dimetrodon would take bites out of their face. It’s a very rare occurrence in the fossil record where where predator/prey interactions can be clearly seen.

I think I have a theory for some of them being non-fully evolved. jigglypuff is because it needs a moonstone to evolve right well what if the elemental stones that were needed to evolve them weren’t around in the past which is why jigglypuff gets is paradox form and not evolution. Same applies to misschievous. The elemental stones that are needed for their evolution weren’t around in the past so them having paradox forms and not their evolution is does kind of make sense when you think about it

Decided to make stat spreads for these four for fun, keeping in mind both the 570 BST (with exceptions) and the fact every stat from every past version is an odd number. Elder Bunker: 63/133/121/93/117/43 A more offensive take on Toxapex, behaving more like a tank as supposed to a wall. It looks like it should hurt, so it gets a meaty attack stat, solid special attack, and slightly higher HP and speed, all without losing too much defense and special defense, although there’s still a notable drop. Piercing Cut: 69/153/60/103/69/107 No shield here, so its basically blade form Aegislash, but with high speed to compensate for its permanent frailty. It’s mostly physical now instead of for some reason being mixed, that was always kinda weird, although special attack is still respectable. Marsh Jet: 107/121/127/51/87/ 77 Looks far less mobile than Dragapult, so the drop in speed is a given. That speed moved onto bulk, mainly HP and physical defense. It had to take a hit somewhere else due to having a lower BST, so I just nuked its special attack. Crash Giant: 153/103/97/113/71/33 Not much to say here. Special defense is kinda low, but that’s offset by that massive HP, with everything else being decent except that abysmal speed, but luckily Trick Room’s a thing. Sidenote on Crash Giant: Protosynthesis (the ability past paradoxes bar Koraidon have) works on sunlight. A water past paradox is not gonna like that lol

Oh man, I didn't even think about the version exclusive psudeos trend with the paradox mons! Dragapult is one of my favorite mons (two of my favorite types and based on my favorite animal) and I wasn't even aware that we were robbed...

The thing about the “Not fully evolved” paradox mons. If you notice, all of those ones (Jigglypuff, Misdreavus, Magneton) they all evolve from stones.

Seeing Scissor described as a "new" mon blows my mind. I grew up with Pokemon since I was a kid. I did not know that Sciscor was brand new to Gen 2. It was put into melee to promote new Pokemon. *I THOUGHT MOST OF THOSE POKEMON WERE ORIGINALLY IN GEN 1.* *THEY PUT KANTO IN GEN 2 AND I GREW UP THINKING IT WAS ALL THE SAME GAME. GOD, I HATE HAVING ADHD.*

I feel theres a subtle punk theming in the past paradox Pokemon as well. For example, both Scream Tail and Sandy Shocks have eyeliner, and the latter powder steel also resembles a mawhawk.

Roaring moon and Iron valiant are variations of the mega evolution. Hence why they are placed differently in the pokedex and have a bst of 590 instead of 570

It should be noted that the Past paradox mons that are yet to evolve only evolve because of specific stimuli introduced to them. This may be implying that their most natural state is in these specific unevolved forms, or it may simply be that the mechanism through which these Pokemon are brought to the present is simply only grabbing these unevolved Pokemon.

I believe in my theory that all of these past pokemon were the prehistoric mega evolutions of the time since the Roaring moon is almost identical to mega salamence. Maybe pokemon evolutions didn't exist back then instead, they just evolved no 3 stages. You just turn into anything at all.

Love the designs, especially Marsh Jet. Kind of makes me wish for a region that has proper living versions of the fossil Pokemon, as that would fit right in with these. Funnily, Hisui already gave us temporal variants, though a lot closer to modern time than the past Paradox Pokemon. I'm curious if they'll find a way to bring these variants into the modern timeline. One that makes sense I mean, nothing really stops them from just having them be there with no explanation, which is kind of standard for the series.

I feel like sandy shocks is the way it is because: before magneton was a steel type it was a grounded creature and after ages of using electromagnetic energy to collect iron shavings it "evolved" to be a floating steel type.

The past paradoxes aren't just prehistoric. Just like how future paradox pokemon makes everything a robot, the idea of past paradoxes is to turn everything into dinosaurs. That's why they put legs on pokemon that don't have them like amoonguss, volcarona and magneton. Volcarona also got the dino tail while magneton got its bolt tail. The sole exception is flutter mane which is meant to be a pterodactyl.

One thing I'm noticing of Past Paradox pokemon that throw people is how uncanny the past mons are to modern versions. That's because like our own "recent" pre history animals of that time were uncanny to those of our own time. All the fossil Pokemon are of creatures that would be like actual monsters if seen in reality today while those of just after the mass extinction of the dinosaurs would look closer to our modern animals. Which brings a very clear topic. When did Arceus add humans to his world or other human like species to other worlds?

My only critique of the past forms would be dragapult. I think it's a missed opportunity to turn the jets on its head into something more primitive like a bow. It could have a thin membrane that connects the ends of the two head spikes to form the bow string and use its tail to draw it back. Its special attack animation can be that it rears up on its hind legs and curls its tail back, hooking it around the "draw string" and then falling back to all 4s, letting gravity do most of the work in drawing each shot.

something i noticed- although this might be over-examining- is that most if not all of the past paradox formes visually reflect sada; whether that be through caveman style clothing, long flowy hair, or even the feminine, fanged face on scream tail. i haven't had the chance to see any of the future paradox formes in 3d so i don't know about them, but its just something i interpreted

I like the concept and designs of the past paradox pokemon you have. For future note, i would recommend getting a pop filter for your mic. The pops when pronouncing some words is noticeable. If you have the funds, i recommend getting a blue yeti. They are roughly 84-100 ish but they last for a while and got some additional features.

I think the past forms are from unevolved pokemon because in the past those pokemon didn't gain their evolution yet. Perfect example is volcanrona. In the past it was more of its pre Evo because it didn't fully gained the ability to evolve into volcarona but in the future it already gained the evolutions

Ive heard the theory multiple times now that the time machine at the end of the game isnt really a time machine at all/cant actually bring past and future pokemon to the present. But then it makes why these pokemon from “the distant future“ or “the ancient past“ are called *paradox* pokemon. Sandy Shocks for example shouldnt theoretically exist since magnets and screws and thus magneton are modern tools, and yet here is a Magneton perfectly adapted to life of the ancient past.

I think it makes way more sense for the paradox mon to not actually be from the past. Sandy shocks and brute bonnet are both based on pokemon with clear references to human inventions. It frankly doesn't make sense for them to already have those traits in the past. The choice of these designs feels like a hint
