The entire body of Christ needs to hear and heed this. We “body” are in danger of reading Romans 1 and believing it’s only about those outside the church. It’s 3:15am where I am and I have gotten out of bed to pray for my life, family and my church. LORD we are desperate for You!🙏🙏🙏

Great sermon

Rarely have I heard a minister who speaks scripture without fear of people leaving or being offended. I have been greatly encouraged by the Holy Spirit as I have been and am by these sermons. Allistar Begg is another minister who uses scripture and challenges us to keep in step with the Holy Spirit and scriptures. For too long sermons have put the church to sleep and made us all feel comfortable. But the Holy Spirit has made me very uncomfortable with such comfort. All I have to do is read testimonies of true Believers in other nations where persecution of 😂Christ’s followers to understand that the normal Christian life is trouble, trials, and power by the Holy Spirit to endure. But I disagree with his example of homeschooling. Iwas strict and kept school hours, weekly tests, and grades. We attended church regularly. I had to contend with the youth minister , ( who later divorced his wife, left his son because he had fallen in love with the married daughter ofthe church secretary. She divorced her husband, the secretary divorced her husband, and they all married others.) the minister who was against homeschooling etc. Paul said not to associate with people who were sexually immoral, greedy, liars …not at all meaning those in the world or you would have to leave the world. Today you would have to leave the church! My kids benefited greatly from homeschooling.

It appears that the church still only truly grows and learns through trials and tribulations. Pastor is trying to get us 'to study to show yourself approved unto God' 2Timothy 1:15. And to understand the importance of engaging in Christ-like morality and attitude. And exercise your spiritual gifts, how do you feel about the gifts noted in Galatians. Kindness, mercy, generosity, service, teaching etc. Or just read what Paul says in the NKJV....never liked the NIV.

Allen. It was a good word, and it was to help people not to be ignorant about spiritual things, Yet do not agree when you were speaking of the gifts of the Spirit, saying gifts should rather be called manifestations. You failed to see how/why others translated it “gifts”, as the scripture mentions the word “Given”, which you even demonstrated with the giving of your bible to the one receiving it, then mentioning it was a gift, something given. This is because the words ‘gift’ and ‘given’ are related, as a gift is only that, when (and only when) it is “given”, as here, you shared and Paul noted in 1 Corinthians 12:7 NIV, “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is “given” for the common good.” No, “gifts” is not unhelpful (as you say), but rather helpful showing it (as you render it “spirituals”) as something given, a gift, to be received. So, again, whether it being rendered spirituals, manifestations, or workings, they are all referring to that which is “given”, but true, can be said it is a manifestation, when and only when it is “used”, thus a gift manifested, made apparent! Why bring up the idea that these gifts are not to be noted as “I have the gift of such and such”? Or questioning, “which gift do you have”. When the scripture tells us God the Holy Spirit gives them to each according to His will , “dividing to every man severally as he will.” Thus the legitimate question, is it a possession? Sure, just as salvation is a possession, as the word used in Romans 11:29; “For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.” Meaning they are not taken back from the one possessing them! As this word “gift” here, Is the same Greek word used in 1 Corinthians 12:4-31. Your saying that calling these as “gifts” can lead to confusion and be used other than Godly, (referring to your use of “Obi-Wan” and other brow beating slogans) is making out that the Holy Spirit has no understanding of just whom He is gifting! No, on the contrary, God is not the author of confusion 1 Corinthians 14:33, and God the Holy Spirit is all knowing! Really, as you say; "one is a candidate, if such one is willing to cooperate, there is a need to cooperate, and just saying I am willing to cooperate is not enough" (great point Allen, we are more than a blank canvas) yet the Spirit knows just who does and Paul even tells us we are to go beyond that cooperation to; “But covet earnestly the best gifts:” and “desire spiritual gifts” 1 Corinthians 12:31 and 14:1. As Jeremiah noted God saying; “You shall seek (covet, desire) me and find me when you shall seek (covet, desire) me with all of your heart”, relates even in our day, today for the gifts, and callings!
