After applying for citizenship, I sadly learned how it's a shame citizenship cannot be granted if your lineage is not registered to the 1943 Final Base Membership Roll, 1961 and 2000 Federal Registry of the Catawba Indian Nation. Thus any lineage that predates 1943, they are literally excluded. My grandmother passed 1942. On the other hand, my father and grandfather who are unregistered are now both deceased, thus I have no way of receiving citizenship. I was literally told -this is the end of the road. Meaning, just accept the reclassifications that has been imposed upon us and move on.

They claimed Cherokee but I did more research and found out I was Catawba before any preceding tribes or ancestry. Soooooo yeah. My Lineage started out native and got watered down to avoid the trail of tears. They stopped in Birmingham AL before going back up to Huntsville and settling permanently.
