I just discovered your channel and love it. I've always had Arabians, but it has been nearly about 12 years since I've had a horse. The desire and fire for riding has never gone away. In the interim I pummeled my body with ultra running, marathons, body building, and archery. Since deciding to get a horse, I knew my body wouldn't be happy on my beloved Arabian horse breed, plus we live in high New Mexico altitude and I didn't want a thin skinned horse that needed blanketed all winter. And no monekyshines when I ride. After much research the Rocky Mountain horse is the breed for me and my husband. The unique coloring and that beautiful sounding four beat gait (for us math nerds this is heaven on earth). Your channel has inspired me so much. I think the woman with the brumby in Australia (Daisy?) really sealed it, there is no reason why I can't at 58 years old, get a horse again. Thank you so much for the happiness it has brought me to see all the breeds. As a kid I had that little gorgeous enclycopedia book of horse breeds and would pour over it. You have revived some of those old beloved rare horse seen only in other countries. Blessings to you!

My friend has a Rocky Mountain Horse named Rocky who use to show by her grandfather. He is very sweet, gentle, soft, and kind. He is a barn favorite!

Now on “Threatened” - one step up from “Critical” on the priority list - which means they’ve diminished in numbers since this was recorded☹️

If I ever have the finances to raise a horse happily, I'd like to raise this breed specifically. :) Even when I was a lad, they've always been my favorite breed.

They are the most common gaited horses now. More common then saddlebreds even.

You should watch the birth of my mare to a chocolate colt last spring that I caught on video! It’s on Alaska Farm Life channel.

I do not understand the difference between a Kentucky mountain saddle horse and a rocky mountain horse.

The allowance of white markings is slightly different. Many are registered Rocky/Kentucky- mine is, in fact. There was a falling out between some in the Rocky registry so the ones in disagreement went out and started their own registry. Don’t let anyone tell you a RMH must have Tobe in his ancestry. Mine does not- he’s in fact probably 7/8 Saddlebred.

@@radchannel5494 Thank you so much. I live in Sweden so it would probably be hard to meet any of these breeds.
