I really like this bike. Per Spindatt, "ride reasonably priced bikes." This thing is awesome!

Thanks Dan. Yeah I agree with Spindatt and have always subscribed to that philosophy. Even my newest name brand bike is the low end model.

The interesting thing about “About This Bike” it shows viewers the difficulty in retrofitting an old frame. That’s why many of us can appreciate the work you put into the build. That’s why I appreciate what you do! Great job putting it together. Have a great week.

I had started out making a video while I was building the bike but kept running into so many issues and was getting so frustrated I abandoned that idea and took the easier way out doing an ATB video instead. Thinking back on the issues I had I just realized I forgot to mention I had to widen the rear triangle to get the wheel to fit. Thanks Mark.

Randy--you do build some fun machines. These would be welcome in my garage anytime, if you could find room. I think it's great that you ride year round. You the man brotha'

Its funny just came back from a disney criuse and they rent out bicycles on their island. The bikes they rent out has a very silimar frame as your bike. They have cruiser style handlebars with no front suspension but its a fixed gears and i have to say it was enjoyable ride. 🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️

I bet that was fun. That's cool that you got to ride while there.

Great bike! I'm building a '53 straight bar Schwinn right now and your builds are definitely an inspiration. Really glad I found your channel! I've seen you do that trick to run a brake in the rear a couple times. Is the fender stay strong enough to handle the breaking forces? Did you need to spread the rear to fit the 7 speed? On some of your other bikes I've seen what look like custom struts that run from the crown race to the fork dropouts. Do you make these yourself? I love the look. It'd be cool to see a video of how you make them. Thanks for the vids. Cheers!

Thanks! As for the brake mount. I've done it on 2 or 3 bikes (can't recall at the moment). I half expected that part that I use to mount it (don't know what it's called) to just snap off but they've worked fine so far and I've had no issues. I forgot to mention it in the video but yes I did have to spread the rear triangle to fit the wheel. I used threaded rod, washers and nuts to do that. The struts... I just have one pair I got off of some old bike that I don't recall. I've moved them from bike to bike over the years though. I've never made any myself but always thought it shouldn't be too difficult. I really like the Schwinn straight bars. Good luck with your build. Thanks for watching our videos it's greatly appreciated.

Can you explain how you attached the rear caliper brake? I have a frame with a similar fender bar and not sure how to convert for a caliper brake.

Here's a video where I try to explain what I did. Hope it makes sense. Thanks for watching. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5Osm3p3g52doLMsi=C6zBJjjgU1-qtQ5P&t=307

Thank you so much! I have been searching your videos but missed seeing that one. Appreciate your mods! I hope to do something similar with a DPH MFG Co (Blue Ribbon head badge) bicycle from the late 1930’s.

Nice build. How is the bottom bracket height on that Rollfast frame? What's the trail like? Does it steer squirrelly?
@Locojoe2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I built it mostly for fun and the novelty of it so I wasn't really concerned with how it handled or anything. I just went and measured and to the bottom of the bb it's 11 inches. About 12 inches to the center of the crank. IDK about the trail. It doesn't feel any squirlier than anything else I ride. I'm not sure if it had it's original fork if the bb on this bike is a little higher than other old cruiser frames or not. I will say this... That frame is tall compared to other old cruiser frames and then of course a little taller with that suspension fork. I can't clear the top tube flat footed. Hope that makes some kind of sense. Thanks for watching.
