tried to get a check valve out of the head in a m276 engine but only part of it came out, what do I do and what wud you charge?

Yo bro, seen your vids, i wanted to ask a quick question about my merc c180 w204, i have this issue where on cold starts when i switch to either reverse or drive it stalls the car but if before i do go into gear i press the gas pedal a few times then i switch into gear it wont stall, what could be the issue
