Last few days of riding in Sikkim. I rode through West Sikkim, into South Sikkim and then through East Sikkim before making my way into West Bengal. A lot of riding, but bad weather and bad luck meant that I didn't get to see a lot of what I had hoped to.
The ride was fun nevertheless, and I'm certain that I will be going back to Sikkim someday.

Rohit! Yet another great compilation from the auteur!. Yes, rear brake heating up is a major issue with Thunderbird. It happened to me on several occasions. Just imagine what would happen while you're descending towards a sharp curve and if the brake fails :( I'm glad that you were able to descend down safe. However, as a work-around you just need to flush the brake fluid and have it replaced. I needn't tell you but just my 2 cents of advice - Always drop the gear and let it build some speed in order to go for another shift. At times you need to be a valentino Rossi at the corners :P Ride hard, ride safe.

Yeah, it's a terrifying issue in fact. The brakes fail suddenly leaving you to figure out an alternate way to stop the bike. Can be very dangerous.The reality is that you can't be flushing brake fluid frequently while you are in the middle of nowhere, so that's a bit of a handicap.

This problem is not just with the Thunderbird. Last year I was riding a Electra 500 in Ladakh, and was coming back from Pangong. The brakes made wierd noises when hot. In one steep decend, the rear brake jammed completely! I was at about 40 kmph, down hill, and with lots of gravel. Fishtailed and came to a stop at the very edge of the cliff! Horrible experience! The rest of the way I had to ride without a rear brake, did it somehow.

the break not working is not an issue actually, I last year went to ooty, while coming down I also faced the same issue, the locals told me to let the breaks cool down, and later on it was fine. I was riding TVS Apache RTR200 4V

Bro, The brake problem. It happens with every vehicle. When you use brakes continuously for long time it heats up and will not work. That's why always recommended to ride down steeps roads in first or second gear (in the same gear which you would use to climb the steep - that's what Driving School guys would say) and use brakes very less. One ghat in Ooty-Mazanagudi is infamous for accidents due to such brake failure.
