So nice to have a recap on this years ABR. That muddy spot....i went down for my very first time on my new tiger 900 R.Pro in the corner just before that mud. This because i saw 3 bikes lighing there and I did a panic brake , sliped, down i went on the grass. Notice, i 'did' put on brand new MITAS E-07+ tyres just before the ABR festival, witch helped me a lot on my learning curve, during and after the festival, doing parts of the TET trails. Makes me wonder why you even started the ABR trails on road tyres ? Had fun watching and relive my own expirience over there. Thanks for posting

I rode the Moto Morini X-Cape 650 around there, thought we were doing a road ride and he said do you want to try the off road trail, l said will be slow as 35 years since I have ridden off road, remember the mud as did the Sam and thought I would go around the edge, bike slipped sideways but kept it up. Funny I went around the loop 4 times but each time ended up completing a slightly different variation even though I wasn't sure which turn I'd changed. Also didn't encounter much mud so I think it was wetting/drying very quickly through the day depending on when you went out.
@mancavemoto2 жыл бұрын
No I knew there was a small brook to cross towards the end of the long loop, so Intended to miss that anyway. But I can only blame myself I should have got through that easily, in fact when I watched it back I realised I was pretty much through it.
@nomading_in2 жыл бұрын
@@mancavemoto nothing to blame mate...you almost made it! I had lots of near wash outs on road tires as well and only difference between my story and yours is a fraction of a reaction time or angle of a rut...part of the game! Sorry to see you got hurt though, that side we could all do without! My only tip (and I'm certainly no expert) is if in doubt you're better to plow straight through an obstacle (within reason), sometimes even a subtle act of avoidance can unsettle the traction in unpredictable ways. That and avoid using the front brake in an on-road way, of course...I had to keep consciously taking my fingers off the front brake so I wasn't tempted to grab unnecessarily.
@mancavemoto2 жыл бұрын
Yep it was just the angle of the bank that put the front wheel out of straight. I still dont know why i didnt just go straight through the middle, it was early in the loop and i guess I was concious of the lack of grip.
@djhowse2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tony, I was at the Festival on the Friday. Went out on the trail asked the same question about the mud.. My AT Adventure sports has the same tyres as your KTM. I followed a guy through that section who slid and I had exactly the same crash as you and trapped my right leg/foot under the bike, managed to get my foot out and thought hmm that hurts a bit. Carried on with a broken front brake lever and handguard got off the trail as soon as I could. Rode home to Stratford upon Avon. Right ankle throbbing, went to A&E to be on the safe side and its broken Arrgh Roll on next year🤦♂🤦♂Hope your leg is ok.

Thanks, yep still a bit of pain a week on, but I’m back riding again now. I’ve had no real issues with the bike. One recall that sorted an issue with a bolt in the brake caliper, it had a dodgy fork seal and that’s been it. Starts first time every time and has never let me down.
