I met Mr Quintanilla yesterday at Selena’s museum. He didn’t talk much and I was lucky enough to be allowed to take a picture from far away with him. He is often seen as a bad man . But seeing his sadness , 26 years later was so heart breaking. I honestly think he tried his best to do what he thought was best for selena .

Those who want translation: here’s what I gathered: (I’m a white girl but know a little Spanish lol) Interviewer starts with we all have one question, why did she go to the hotel? How is your wife? My wife is (not sure what the words meant but I think probably depressed and shocked). Abraham says he wants to thank everyone for all the support. Selena was a person that trusted everyone and she never wanted to believe anyone was bad. I would tell her don’t go out alone because there are dangerous and crazy people out there. But she would tell me aye papa you think everyone is bad. He talks about confronting Yolanda with Suzette about the papers. Chris and Selena went to Yolanda for the papers but she didn’t give her everything. Yolanda tells Selena yeah I have them come get them but come alone because I wanna talk. at the hotel about 2 blocks from here. Did you have an opportunity to talk to Selena in her final moments? And he said no because when I went to the er... he starts crying... she was already dead. I’m not sure what the interviewer said after that. Abraham says she was a person that loved the people and was a person that simply they loved. After that the interviewer just said some kind words that I can’t translate perfectly. At the end of the day, that was his baby, that was his daughter and Abraham was punished by that monster for trying to protect his daughter. That is the pain no parent should ever have to endure. The saying goes 'No parent should have to bury their child', no parent ever thinks that they plan for their children to bury them not the other way around. A lot of people give Abraham so much flack for his choices, but he regrets so many of the decisions he made. he blames himself for losing Selena. Abraham didn't pull the trigger, that monster pulled the trigger. Abraham didn't kill his daughter as people say, that monster killed her.

No parent should have to bury their child before they themselves go. My late Aunte lost four daughters at very young ages before she herself passed on many years later. That in itself was tragic. I loved them all. I never understood why but one thing Abraham and I have in common is that we will see our loved ones again. Rip angel. Did you know, that Selena and husband went to see Yolanda behind Mr.Quintanilla's back? Worse, Selena and husband knew she had a gun. If you want to blame someone besides the killer blame the husband, he didn't tell anyone Yolanda had a gun and it was him who was supposed to protect her as a husband. He let Selena go alone. Selena didn't know how to protect herself. Widower says he will live with the guilt. Personally, I don't blame anyone, but the killer.
