Loss in volume after 16 cycles shall be less than or equal to: a. 18000 mm3/5000 mm2 - In areas subject to very heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic. b. 20000 mm3/5000 mm2 - In areas subject to normal pedestrian and vehicle use.

@@amalsworld623 Hello, Please refer to the standard specification BS EN 1338:2003, Böhme test (annex H) Table 5. Alternatively, measured in accordance with the test method described in annex G, Wide Wheel Abrasion test.
Hi sir, i read EN 1338:2003, the standard stated that pour the abrasive on the disc at first instead of in midst of rotation. I believe this is the same method as Bohme method. Please do correct me if i am wrong. tq

Hello Hafiz. Greetings to you! Glad to hear from you. I do appreciate your question. Referring to the standard specifications IS 15658: 2006, IS 1237:2012 and BS EN 1338:2003/BS EN 1339:2003, the grinding path of the disc of the abrasion testing machine shall be evenly strewn with 20 g of the abrasive powder. The specimen shall then be fixed in the holding device with the surface to be ground facing the disc, and loaded at the center with 294 ± 3 N. The grinding disc shall then be put in motion at a speed of 30 rev/min and the abrasive powder is continuously fed back on to the grinding path so that it remains uniformly distributed in a track corresponding to the width of the test piece.

The standard abrasive used shall be fused alumina (artificial corundum). The abrasive powder shall have an aluminium oxide content of not less than 95 percent by mass. The specific gravity of the grains shall be between 3.9 to 4.1. The grains shall generally have a hardness of 9 in Moh’s scale. Conformity with these requirements, the homogeneity of the material and the uniformity of bulk density and grading of the abrasive shall be checked.

Use square slabs or cubes with an edge length of (71,0 ± 1,5) mm as specimens. The contact face and the opposite face of the specimen shall be parallel and flat. The opposite face shall, if appropriate, be ground parallel or otherwise machined so as to be parallel.
