As a Greek , I have to say this is the best non-Greek food review I've seen. Your man must be Southern Italy, as he has the dark look and will have Hellenic roots somewhere. He tries foods that Westerners won't try and his pronunciation is very, very good. Μπράβο.

While on Peloponnesus at Easter, I woke up wondering what to do and where to eat. Taking my coffee to the balcony, amazing aromas floated up from down below. I looked down to see three spits being turned slowly. I went downstairs with my wife and we got invited to a private party. Never felt more welcome. One spit had lamb, one a suckling pig the third had a stuffed intestine filled with offal and wrapped in bacon. All three were being mopped with olive oil rosemary and lemon. I died and went to heaven on Easter

I wasBorn in Australia 1956, i lived in Greece for 12 years 1975-1987. Your choices for Greek Restaurants are the best. Hpeiros restaurant in the Agora is excellent Lefteris souvlaki near Omonia took me 10 years to find. There was no internet in those days it was word of mouth or the grapevine. My father's father had a confectionary in Tunisia and he used to make Turkish sweet desserts and a lot of cookies, there is a knapa which is actually a sweet dessert made of orange colored Kadaif hairs glazed in butter, with sweet white cheese in the middle and syrup on top

Of course, as a child I tasted all types of baklava in the neighborhood grocery store in the north of my country, there are baklava with kadaif pistachio hairs and syrup in a rectangular shape, there are baklava with rounded kadaif hairs and a peanut in the middle, there are baklava in a rectangle with lots of cinnamon and chopped almonds, there are baklava in small cubes with chopped peanuts and syrup

By the look of it, at the ouzeri, the meatballs, had trimmed zucchini inside, that's why they are so tender. One very important thing you missed in all places though was horta, it's like chicoria, but lots of variations.

Just a small friendly correction. At the beginning of the video, I'm quite sure that these were walnuts and not chestnuts as you said. That's how we eat yoghurt as a dessert in Greece, with honey and walnuts. Have fun 😊

Probably best food tour of Athens by a non-greek I've seen. You did your research, well done! :) You even went to Panormou street for the best Peinirli of the city! (I've never seen a tourist there!!) One small hiccup though: There is a mix up with the names, you say ariston in the peinirli ionias place, and peinirli ionias at the ariston place. But, all is forgiven! :)) So glad you enjoyed your stay in Athens! :)

Wow! What an awesome video and tour!!! I've managed to saved every place in my google maps for my trip to Athens which will be next month. I'll be there for a whole month so I'll squeeze lots of these places in! It's great to see all the places are centrally located too, you just know they have been staples for years and are the places the old generation reminisce when they talk about Athens in the 50s and 60s when everyone from the villages flooded the city for better opportunities. I want to take my mom to some of them too. She will be travelling with me for a bit also. She immigrated to Canada in the 70s, so I'm hoping to take her down memory lane. Bravo!!!
