It feels weird watching your channel after having lived in Japan for a few months as an exchange student. Before, when I watched your channel everything was like a detached feeling of splendor and wonder, but now, I have context. I've been in these places, I understand them, I know where they are and how to get there via train or subway or walking, what the vibes are, and what it's like to really be there. So, if watching your videos before gave me a sense of unknown wonder, now it's like a warm sense of familiarity. Not sure what I want to say with this comment, but thanks for your videos Chris, they're always a treat!

Same here. It has been 8 months and I will leave in May but I've walked and travelled all across Japan and have seen a whole lot in Tokyo. Especially the area east of Asakusa around Sumidagawa. Haven't watched the video yet but I doubt they walked along the river there. If anyone is visiting Tokyo, go down to the riverside walkway at around Kuramae and walk your way up to Asakusa in the evening. Not only is it incredibly relaxing to walk along the river in evening, you also get beautiful views of it and Tokyo Skytree before eventually walking back up to Sensoji, which is always nicer to experience when the crowds are gone.

I actually did something similar to this back in 2019! I took the train to Akihabara, and from there, I walked back to my airbnb in Setagaya. It was around 27km because I took a detour to Ebisu on the way hahaha. Was super fun to just walk and see everything along the way and I would love to do it again one day!

Pete is spot on about just how nice it is to be available to walk places versus having very little within walking distance here in America unless you're in a big city. It's very isolating so I spent most of my vacation in Tokyo just walking the streets because I had the freedom to do so.

God this makes me want to come back to Japan so bad. I went there with my sister and my mom on 2020 (before COVID got serious) for 30 days, we travelled across the whole country and averaged like 20km. walked per day! I think just walking is one of the best things you can do in Japan. We enjoyed it so much and got some of our best memories there. Best trip of my life.

This is probably one of my favorite videos of you, for sure! It was funny, interesting, and even your sour humour was really nice balance to this video! Your guest is also super fun! I'm gonna watch the other videos with him too! It reminded me of when my cousins from other cities would come by São Paulo and we'd walk all over town! I know you said that it's a big walk, but it also reminded me that some parts could def be those walk around streams, very chill, but probably tiring to make yes? I hope I get more money this month bc I'm curious to get the full version from patreon now!

I enjoy how the video captures you from the begining! The niaration from Chris is spot on and captivates you just like any 3xA movie would. I think that is one of the amazing secrets why this channel is so good. That and ofc Natsuki.

Absolutely love this series please keep these coming. Would love to see an episode that includes all of the trash taste boys, Pete, ryotoro and of course the shining star of the entire channel Natsuki! That would be chaos in the best way. I gotta say Pete is really coming into his own. He's always been funny but his camera presence and timing is great and I think he deserves some props (his twitch channel is PremierTwo.) Chris you seemingly never run out of creative ideas for videos and shining light on Japan in a cinematic, interesting and sometimes hilarious way and your personality always shines through in the videos and in the style of editing and cinematography. You guys are top tier content.

Well done boys, you two are the quintessential flâneur ie. a figure who understands the sheer enjoyability of the modern city - the exhilaration, and display, of promenading to see and be seen, which is all part of the urban character. Thank you, a lot of fun.

My recommendation would be to visit a different part of the city each day and really explore everything around it there. Shibuya, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro, Akihabara (if you like anime, also not a full day worth of exploring), Asakusa, Ginza, Minato In the evening you take the train to a different part of the city and find a place to eat dinner there. Then leave two days open in case you find places that really resonate with you, which you wanna visit again. Personally I love just walking around Tokyo seeing what I can find and the best experiences I had where always spontanious ones. If you are the adventurous type of person I wouldn't recommend planning your meals too much. Just make a list of things you wanna eat, then look at the list during the day, pick something you like and find a place that offers that.

I spent a lazy Sunday walking about 30kms around Tokyo a few years back and it is still one of my fondest memories. I had only one set objective but everything else was flexible and it was really a wonderful experience. All inspired by the opening line from "Doesn’t Remind Me" by Audioslave. It was really fun to watch your experiences doing it (with far more local knowledge than I have) and see just how different the experience was but the occasional similarity as well.
