TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS ABRSM’s recommended tempo for this piece is 138 crotchet beats per bar (Allegro molto), although the exam books states that students may wish to play at a slower tempo, such as 92 crotchet beats bar bar. For purposes of illustration, the version on this video has been recorded at 95 bpm and even at this slower tempo, the tempo feels nice and the melody has some chance to breath. A generally bouncy and cheerful left hand makes for a good accompanying sound, but make sure the right hand melody sings out above.
