TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS ABRSM’s recommended tempo for this piece is 104 bpm, although it will lend itself well to a little use of rubato. (looseness of time). A nice legato touch is needed throughout, along with a sensitive approach to the dynamics. On the opening 1st four bars, aim to let your left-hand thumb be light on the off-beat quavers, so as to create a nice relaxed sound - bashing the thumb will make it sound choppy, so avoid this at all costs! Pedal markings appear from the onset, so be very careful to play them correctly. The last two bars can be played very freely, but be sure to give the final paused chord a good length of time.

I agree! It cheapens the brand, but I guess they are trying to be “cool” - at the very least if ABRSM are going to allow pop covers they should surely be listed in the alternatives, and I speak as someone who plays alot of pop covers for fun! As a young player I used to love the music of J.S. Bach. Surely he should get higher billing on the main syllabus than Louis Capaldi? 🙈

@@icyycold515 I actually dont do the exams. Ive played self taught for around 13-14 months now but ive tried to follow these type of grade levels. Only learned Ninettes Musette and Idylle from Grade 4 during the spring this year. But also practice other songs that arent in ABRSM at the same time:)
