Olympic ceremony's 'Last Supper' sketch never meant to disrespect, says Paris 2024

Paris 2024 organisers apologised on Sunday (July 28) to Catholics and other Christian groups angered by a kitsch tableau in the Olympic Games opening ceremony that parodied Leonardo Da Vinci's famous 'The Last Supper' painting.
The segment, which resembled the biblical scene of Jesus Christ and his apostles sharing a last meal before crucifixion and featured drag queens, a transgender model and a naked singer made up as the Greek god of wine Dionysus, drew dismay from the Catholic Church and the religious right in America.
France, while proud of its rich Catholic heritage, also has a long tradition of secularism and anti-clericalism.
Blasphemy is not only legal, but also considered by many as an essential pillar of freedom of speech.
Supporters of the tableau praised its message of inclusivity and tolerance.

Except it wasn't. It's 100% normal for anyone hosting a gala to have a long table like that and all be on one side of it, with the head of the table in the center. It's how most front tables at major events, galas, banquets and weddings are laid out. Just because a handful of Christians saw it, decided it was Leonardo Da Vinci's last supper, and all jumped on the bandwagon sharing it on social media to outrage one anothe, doesn't mean it was true. At no time are any of the actors posed like the disciples in the last supper. It simply wasn't a parody of it to begin with. You imagined it was, and then got mad about the thing you imagined to be true.

The main problem is lack of sensitivity among the olympic committee member. Sexual performance and mocking a religion is NOT ok. And what's that got to do with such important sport event like olympic. Make it make sense.
