Sorry for taking so long to add my comments ! I had a stroke 3 years ago, my left side was badly affected, these guys and their videos were a great help and gave me the first insight that recovery was possible with hard work. After 9 months I was riding my motorbike on the race track again .... with a modified gear shift. And 3 years on I am very close to fully recovered, but I still cant run, with time & effort this might also come back. In addition to these guys videos, I use a tens machine every day, and highly recommend Thai massage to trigger affected muscles. Thanks again to Bob & Brad for being a catalyst for my recovery efforts.

My father suffered a stroke 4 years back and even though he is walking, he does have problem with his left leg. It seems much heavier to move compared to his right side. Thank you for this.

Cart racks and handicap ramps as exercise hand rails. For those recovered enough to walk with a cane at home.... The typical grocery store parking lot cart rack is a secure "Hand Rail" support for walking and other exercises. Walk around the whole rack, or if it is empty, around one side by yourself or while the spouse is shopping. Having a tall cold cup of coke or bottle of water in your car as a refresher is a treat you can look forward to. Handicap ramps are a "next stage" challenge, having a built-in incline and (often) nearby stairs as well. Racks are ideal for side-stepping, walking backwards, supports for stretching exercises and confidence-builders for walking "no Hands" - without the cane. I keep my good hand and arm on the opposite side of the rail for walking "No Hands", just in case I falter.

I’m just starting w a quad cane and need assistance. My left leg is the involved side and I wear an Afo. I have no dorsi and very little plantar, my quad and ab and adductors are good, my hip flexor, glute and ham are weak, but coming back. The tib ant is the slowest to return. So, is this a good exercise to start with. I really want to walk w the quad cane unassisted. And eventually no cane.

Gentleman, your technique is great, as a stroke patient I was wondering how I can improve my waking skills without having to spend hours or months in a rehabilitation centre. Once again I thank God for your knowledge and for sharing it with unfortunate stroke patient like me. May the good Lord continue to bless and keep you for many years to come keep up the good work.

The weird thing is that where my leg is and where I think it is are two different things! I did not notice this untill recently. Btw.. spine injury here. I've managed to get to walking after the doc have up on me and went my spastic was to pain management . I decided to just try to go through the steps of infant development. Whoa tho that rolling over was a huge mountain! My hips felt like someone nailed me to the bed with spikes. This video is challenging.. and yes I want to dance again. Lol

Well, having been into dance I've had to learn my leg (actual whole body) was before. It's encouraging to think back about just how awkward that was back then and how it was possible to patiently train those movements. Every dancer feeling like a fumbling idiot trying to get the movements down. Lol. That would make a great video.. let's see you guys do ballet positions to show that movement is learned. That would hillarious.

I always learn for you two, but wouldn't it behoove a patient to practice proprioception without shoes? I'm talking barefoot to the ground since our sensosomatic system is our oral cavity, hands and feet. They touch a cane with their bare hands for that sensory feedback. Why not the feet? I have found it shuts off so much of their sensory integration since the first contact to the ground for our body is the feet.

I think any one who wants to be a therapist needs to have had a stroke themselves because they dont really understand the situation of how your brain is now, they may have studied in a text book but they have never had the experience so they really dont know

ln fact that that rehabilitation exercises at home r waste of time. I mean some rehab centers international such as that founded at Sweden Stockholm that rehab station at stockholm Sweden truly is a good center highly equipped with equipments for coducting all modes of physiotherapy. Unfortunately one may be afflicted by deprssion and manifest frustration and distress too from the scenes available there a lot no of war victims with artificial extremities loss of ll or the upper limbs لا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله العظيم. ربنا أفرغ علينا صبرا وثبت أقدامنا.

You guys are overly careful because you have to be. Unless you are way up there in years any falls you would simply roll out of them. I could fall full time on a carpeted floor and never get hurt.
