I can understand the Ravens leaving the field since the game was initially ruled as over, but considering how close the play was and that the replay showed it going over, I didn't like the fact that the Ravens left to the locker room immediately when I was watching this live (not a fan of either team) but after seeing that I was happy that the Browns won this one in the end.
@mattd98812 жыл бұрын
Bruh..it wasn't even close. Ball clearly bounced back towards the field.
@jamez22 жыл бұрын
@@mattd9881 Not close? The ball cleared the upright. That's literally the definition of a good field goal. It doesn't matter if it bounced back into the field of play after clearing, the fact is it cleared to begin with. It was the right call. The Ravens left the field because they KNEW there was discussion on the field, and they thought if they abandoned the field, it would help cement their victory.

I never understood why that field goal is considered so controversial. It was was extraordinarily bizarre, yes, but it was the CORRECT call. The refs did the right thing by discussing it since it wasn't reviewable and made sure that the rules were applied in making it a good field goal.

It was a very frustrating season in B-more that year, particularly because we’d done so well with McNair at QB the previous season. The Browns, though, came outta the blue and surprised everyone that year led by Derek Anderson. I remember thinking that this was the game where I thought Kyle Boller was gonna turn the corner. He got pounded and had a horrible first half, but dug in when he needed to right the end. That was the performance he needed to have. The field goal, though, was something I’d never seen before. It was crazy, but after they ruled it good, I knew the Ravens were in trouble. It took all the air outta their tires.
@nengehtardzer28392 жыл бұрын
Ravens had some horrible clock management and play calling on that last drive that they had the ball and ended up kicking the ball before giving the ball back to the browns and then them going down the field and getting that field goal to take it to OT. And then to top it all off they thought it was a good idea to kick it right to Josh Cribbs in OT even tho he was torching them all game long on returns

This was the most frustrating season for a Ravens fan. They came one penalty away from beating the undefeated Patriots on MNF, then they lost to the winless Dolphins a week later. This was a typical game for them, that year. Brian Billick's last year as coach.

If you ever wondered how a Browns team could possibly go 10-6, it’s wins like this. A franchise as putrid as Cleveland can have a special one-off season once every few decades but when they do they need divine miracles like this to happen. Funny how that season ended in typical Cleveland fashion: not only not making the playoffs, but with a 1 pm game that they could win but it didn’t matter because Tennessee controlled its own destiny, so the Browns then sat around all night just to watch the Titans beat a Colts team with nothing to play for on Sunday Night Football. Oh, Cleveland, how you suck. 😅

Yes, he did suck. He stayed out of the way, and handled the media circus, when the Ravens won in 2000. They under-performed in every season after 2000, except for 2006, but they played a last place schedule during the regular season and they were not ready for the playoffs, so they had a quick exit. They were a very undisciplined team during those years. I remember a lot of close games being lost due to stupid penalties or poor clock management, like this one. Billick always had a team with 6-8 all-pro players, but couldn't even produce a winning record on a consistent basis.
