Brian Billick and the ‘07 Ravens never recovered after this loss. Their only win for the rest of the year being against these Steelers resting their starters in the final week of the season. Then again their 4 wins in their 4-2 start were against the Rams, Cardinals, and 49ers when the NFC West was the worst division in the NFL in the late 2000s and a Jets team without Chad Pennington. Then they got to the hard part of their schedule against teams like the Colts, Chargers, and Patriots.
@BigRob-FormerlyMrSlim Жыл бұрын
If they had any gas left in the tank, they used it against the Patriots where they had them beat basically three times but still lost. They were just flat and had nothing left to play for after that game for the remainder of the season. Despite like you said beating the Steelers in week 17, they finished with a 5-11 record and it was the end of Air McNair’s career it was also the end of the Billick era for the Ravens. And it was the last time the Ravens saw Kyle Boller starting a regular season game.

One thing that comes to mind for me is how would today's QB talent like Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Dak, Hurts, Herbert, Jackson would have done against these Pittsburgh Steelers defense and Baltimore Ravens D. You can even throw the 2013 Seahawks and 2015 Broncos in there as none of those guys have face a defense equal to those teams yet in their careers. My favorite memory of James Harrison was when he slam a fan to the ground. I believe the game took place against the Browns.

They'd do significantly better most likely. Even compared to just 5 years ago the average draft pick is slightly faster and slightly stronger. The average player is bigger and stronger... Players like Ray Lewis wouldn't have a size, speed or strength advantage today... they'd all probably not even have been drafted... probably washing cars or doing tricks as a homeless man for drugs.

@@JFed4 I know he's from Akron, it's why I made the OBVIOUS joke. And no, he doesn't belong in the Hall.... he's a very good player... not an all time great. He might get in through the senior's committee down the road because of fan based nostalgia but he was never a generational talent or put up generational numbers. If Hines Ward can't get into te HOF James Harrison shouldn't even be mentioned. He had a five year run of pro bowl level success and then spent the rest of his career in the land of average, not even a starter half the time. 5 good years out of 16? Yeah... that's not a legit HOF career.
@joshuawilliams7653 Жыл бұрын
@Jenny Anydots HE should go, deserves to go, and will go. He's the defensive version of Kurt Warner. In my opinion you can't put Warner in and not Harrison. Both were Undrafted, from a small school, late bloomers, who had a stretch where they were considered among the best at their position. Kurt Warners' overall career numbers (much like Harrisons) aren't eye-popping and Warner also was only good for a stretch, but it's the accomplishments and the story. Warner went from undrafted to 4 time pro bowler, 2 time 1st team all pro, 2 time league MVP, SB champion, and SB MVP. Harrison went from undrafted to being a 5 time pro bowler, 2 time 1st team all pro, Defensive Player of The Year, 2 time SB Champion, and all time sack leader for one of the most legendary franchises in football. He will find himself in the Hall of Fame. I don't think first ballot, but he won't wait like 20 years. We remember how much of a beast he was for a 5-7 year stretch and to beast and among the best in the NFL even for 5-7 years says a lot. Terrell Davis had a shortened career due to injury but his 7 years couldn't be ignored. Hines Ward was just caught up in a log jam at WR but I believe he'll Ultimately get in also.
@jennyanydots2389 Жыл бұрын
@@joshuawilliams7653 That's not a valid comparison. Kurt Warner was a generational talent with a storybook career at the hardest position in the sport... one of the highest-rated of all time... guiding two different teams to the super bowl. Harrison was a very good outside linebacker that had a few superb seasons in the middle of just a pretty good career exaggerated by that one interception in the SB off Warner.... he ranks around 63rd in sacks all time. They are not at all the same kind of player in any sense. Comparing a QB to a LB doesn't make sense fundamentally in any context to begin with.

James Harrison: a true legend. This was the beginning and then there was his Immaculate Interception. One of the very best players and one of the very best plays. On the other hand... That was the last of the Steelers dynasty team. As of 2023, we have T J Watt in place of James Harrison, if you will. But, in 2023, there is not at all a Steeler offensive that would be even close to what Big Ben did after those big defense plays. Right now, the Steelers are lucky if they get 3 points in the red zone, if they ever reach that far. They have to improve and fast, otherwise the Steelers dynasty will be just something to remember. We are being beaten by 2 wins teams way past half season.
