Crazy fact about Saruman's death scene. Peter Jackson asked Sir Christopher to cry out in pain when Grima stabbed him, but Sir Christopher was like "that's not how a man sounds when you stab them in the back Peter." And when asked how he knew that all he could say was "Im afraid that's clasified." Sir Christopher Lee was THAT dude.

18:37 “Yeah, get hit with that holy light!” You are the first reactor (out of dozens and dozens) who understands that the light from Gandalf’s staff is holy. The same is true for the starlight from the phial of Galadriel. It’s not bright light which repels the Nazgûl and the giant evil spider, it’s holiness.

Ecthelion, Denethor's father, indeed had a cool name - he was named after an Elf from the First Age, Ecthelion of the Fountain, who is one of the three or four Tolkien characters who succeeded in killing a Balrog. (Like the others, he died doing so.) *blinks a few times at your comments about jumping off the clifftop*

Worth noting that he too fell to his death, as did the balrog he was fighting. So there is a strange parallel to Gandalf too- Denethor didnt fall to his death in the books, only succumbed to the flames...but that is also similar to being slain by a balrog, a "spirit of fire". The fact that multiple balrogs have fallen to their deaths indicates that they dont actually have wings, they were only described as being "cloaked in great wings of flame", which is likely just a metaphor describing what the fire that radiates from their bodies looks like.

A murder in the shire, by a hobbit, it was unthinkable, in their peaceful life, you remember on the second film when Gollum called him "Murderer"? This trauma tormented him for eternity

Smegol wasn't in the Shire though, he and his folk lived on the east side of the Misty Mountains.
