@@MonopteraMusic That could change, this album is getting a lot of hype. They are from my general area of the world. The place there playing in only holds about 500 people.

What on earth are you talking about with the transitions? I think they're seamless and perfectly executed.

Also, did you check out the Stargate mini movie? A total head trip and a perfect accompaniment for the music - watch it loud with the lights off (to paraphrase Marillion)

Sounds really interesting, from what you say. I see they have a documentary about it, so I'll give that a watch.

At first , I really struggled with this but only because I do not like these kind of vocals but after multiple listens I really am digging this! Agree with your review! It really does work! Thank you❤

Was listening to this yesterday after reading that Mike Portnoy has been bigging it up. Liking it so far - a refreshing take in the prog/metal sphere

I agree with you, it does sound almost as though the two styles cant be blended. Still pushing boundaries and incredibly good though.

This album is on another level. I said Pink Floyd meets death metal.

I feel like if they mixed the “oil and water” more then each section would cease to be distinct. You’d loose the death metal edge or not be able to sink into the atmospheric parts if there were heavier aspects. I mean if they kept combining the styles they’d probably end up with something like the Sound of Perseverance with synths. That could be cool but I’m just saying I understand why the styles in each section are so drastically different. But the flow is still there. Take Opeth, they transition amazingly between sections, but I think we’d lose something if they tried to fuse the acoustic/folksy bits with the death metal sections. Too much. Anyway great review, I found your channel from a Wheel of Prog episode.

I love the album. This is album of the year for me for sure. I can't imagine anything coming close to this for me, not even Opeth.

Being not a Pink Floyd fan, i just can't get on board with this stuff. Love death metsl, especially progressive minded stuff, but not this.
