@@dcollins4679 Spot on - I agree that the notion of "attachment parenting" has a lot to answer for. There is a period of time for the first few months / year of a babies life that they should, to some extent feel like the center of their parents world - however after this point it is the parents job to gradually introduce a child to reality so that a child can learn how to function in systems, be patient, think about the needs of others, appreciate the importance of rules and law etc. To my mind you have utterly failed as parents if, lets say, by ten you have not managed to instill this in your children.

I also am classed as a "transphobe" and was almost excommunicated by the "Trans community" 15 years ago. The Reason? I am a trans-woman. I transitioned 25 years ago. For me it was an action of very last resort after every other possible course of help had been tried. My Crime? I refer to myself as a trans-woman, not a Woman. Although totally accepted in every female group and social organisation that I am associated with I am not accepted by the "trans-community" because I do not believe that a person with a penis should be allowed into a female private space such as a changing room. I'm sorry, transitioning should be the course of last resort for those DIAGNOSED with the medical condition of Gender Dysphoria and not something undertaken as a whim or form of recreation by those who have no interest in going through rigorous medical and psychiatric assessment.

Activists, almost by definition, believe that action rather than debate is the way to make whatever changes they consider to be necessary. I think part of the problem is our expectation that such a person would be open to debate in the first place. Yeah, let's not have any doctors or scientists or engineers. Just tradesmen should suffice, apparently. Like in the olden days, go to a smith to have your tooth taken out and to the local healer for a surgery. Spouting ridiculous nonsense based on no experience of learning that engages the intellect (much as there is of it in your case) - seemingly of any kind, let alone learning in tertiary education - would highly likely be the result of sending 'your kids to college to learn a trade'.

As an older learner i was astounded by categories for financial assistance. There is a category for "economically disadvantaged" and another for "black students". Why on earth should they distinguish based on race??? No black child going to university today has not had equal access to resources. I can understand disabilities such as adhd, and such like but these minorities are over represented imo

The key thing about debate is there is often no clear right or wrong. Both sides have their good and bad points and you should listen to both sides and form an opinion based on which one you agree the most with. You cant just silence because you dont like their views. Encouraging debate is healthy and we should hear each side and what they have to say.

Usually the people that want to close down a discussion or argument know they don’t have a valid point of view with any credibility behind it and would rather close it down than participate, it’s classic behaviour of someone who doesn’t give a damn about anyone but themselves and how the world should revolve about them.

This man is on the same side of the aisle as those who refused to debate immigration in 2009/2010 under Gordon Brown. Its easy calling for civil debate when you are attacked but you sowed the seeds of activism many years before 2009. We have a lack of structure, control and authority in this country. We expect nothing from everyone and moan when our public services are in disarray.

This is what happens when we tell students they must always feel safe, and that their feelings are facts. A person with a healthy ego can hear something that challenges them, (which doesn't feel safe), and still be curious to learn more because they are more interested in learning than on always being "affirmed" 24/7. We have trained them to be weak, which means they will always be terrified.

If you disagree with someone you should take this opportunity to discuss why and present your facts. If you believe you are right, you should be trying to persuade them of their errors. That is debate, that is learning. That is what universities are for. There are several criticisms of Stonewall here, so why did the students not take the opportunity to bring them up with Fanshawe in the discussion after his talk? You can then ignore him in your private life if you still disagree.

I went to university to expand my mind, debate and challenge my beliefs, and learn new things... none of these things seem to be acceptable in modern universities. At school you learn by rote and don't question it, at university you learn to think for yourself and question everything. Why is questioning something now unacceptable, let alone debating it.

Trouble is none of these certainties are certain. In fact the complete opposite in the trans/gender fluid dogma. If their dogma certainties was based on actual logical fact, then you might have a point. However it is based on pure fantasy that next to no one believes (I strongly doubt whether even the so called allies actually believe it) and thus is not going to help them by hanging on to it. It will only get worse with time as they experience the problems associated with such a nonsensical basis for their cult.
