"Blue on black, tears on a river. A push on a shove, it don't mean much. Joker on Jack, match on a fire. Cold on ice, it's a dead man's touch. Whisper on a scream, doesn't change a thing. Doesn't bring you back. Blue on black." Great lyrics.

For a fun blues artist, I recommend giving Johnny Lang and his song Lie To Me a try. He's a local boy here and recorded it when he was 16 with vocals that no 16 year old should have lol ( not to mention some awesome guitar playing)

Always love it when people discover KWS. The singer is Noah Hunt, Kenny is the blonde guitar player. This is definitely the most main stream of his songs. If you want something a bit more of signature sound, which I have always thought of as bluesy rock, check out Slow Ride. His version of Deja Voodoo is great and a personal fav Heat of the Sun.

Though Kenny had a string of singles between 1995 and 2011, this was the only song to hit Billboard's Top 100. However, many more hit the Mainstream Rock chart, and there were some true bangers among them. "Deja Voodoo" is my personal fave, and I think you would love "In 2 Deep" and "Everything is Broken" as well. One the best blues rock guitarists in the biz.

SRV had a profound influence on Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Here is a brief snippet of an interview Kenny gave on the subject; When the interviewer said, "Stevie Ray Vaughan, you got to meet him young, isn't that right?", Kenny replied (transcribed by UG): "Yeah, the first time I met him I was seven years old, I was just kind of getting really interested in guitar and it was a life-changing experience for me. "Watching him play and getting to meet him really inspired me. I had a little toy acoustic guitar so I was kind of playing around with it, but I wanted to get myself a real guitar. "And trying to learn how to make that thing sound and affect people the way he affected me, so that was the beginning of it for me, my real dedication to learning the instrument

I’ve seen Kenny play live seven times now. The story goes: When Kenny was a kid his dad took him to see Stevie Ray Vaughan and Stevie brought him up on stage so he could watch the show. That’s when he decided to be a guitar player. As it turns out Stevie‘s drummer Chris Layton now plays with Kenny Wayne, so the vibe has come full circle.

I saw Kenny Wayne Shepherd in concert in 2000 with my 2 brothers. We were in the front right corner of the theater and he played right in front of us the whole concert. Check out "Born With A Broken Heart" from his first album around 1995 (when i was dj at a bar back then i played the song a lot).

I saw Kenny Wayne on a Joe Bonamassa Blues Cruise in 2019. It was fire! Most fun I ever had.

He was 16 years old when he recorded this, and there's another one from about the same year and the same age. Jonny Lang! "Lie to Me" "Still Rainin'" And one of my favorites? "Rack 'Em Up"!

I saw KWS in Raleigh with a surprise jam session with Cry of Love, in a small (2500 seat) venue. Absolutely electric.
