Years of stagnant salaries coupled by high council tax. It depends on what majority population is in that borough or city. There's plenty room for manipulation and lack of monitoring. It means some councils will be subsidised by tax payers whilst others pay more. What a very bad idea.

Local elections were previously delayed for the covid pandemic and foot and mouth outbreaks. These emergencies were out of the government's control. However, this excuse for delaying elections by Labour is ridiculous - Politicians can postpone their reforms, but by comparison they obviously could not have delayed the pandemic by a year! If the mandate for local politicians have expired there there should be no mandate to collect any council tax.

Council Tax is unfair. Someone in a Band H house with no kids pays far more than a family of adults all working earning far more per year in a Band A house for example. It's wrong. I personally think if you have kids you pay for each child, just like all 5 adults in one house pay there fare share. Paying per household is wrong and the council would gain far more if everyone paid. It shouldn't go by the size, attractiveness, bedrooms and bathrooms of a home. So to put in context, my neighbour could be a millionaire earning 500k, has 10 kids, I have the same house but only I live there. Why am I paying the same? More people is what use more services. Not the home!
