The harmonica was a gift from his dad when he was seven, and this was his dad's favorite hymn. Dan has wanted to be a singer since hearing Jekyll and Hyde by Petra, and he actually got to cover Beyond Belief with John Schlitt and John Lawry. He took lessons for ten years, and he can do opera, acoustic, 80s pop/rock, and metal of all kinds, as well as amazing songs like this and his Christmas covers, which are now year-round staples. As another reactor said when reacting to this song, it's just " Dan doing Dan things." Don't try to label him or box him in, and don't think you've got him all figured out; he's a one of a kind phenom. Keep the Dan reactions coming!

The dude has made a art form of covering songs originally performed by female vocalists. On top of this he has some Opera covers out there including The Phantom Of The Opera. I really think you should scan his video list, you might find things that you might want to react to, or just listen to on your down time.

Ok probably repeating info already given….Dan is Brazilian, is classically trained, speaks/sings in 4 languages, plays multiple instruments, arranges/produces all his songs, has a 3-5 octave range depending on who you ask, very comfortable singing opera, musicals, show tunes, pop, rock, hard rock, and metal. He is the lead singer in a metal band called Fearless which his brother (Davi) is the guitarist or bassist (sorry can’t remember) the other 2 members are childhood friends. My recommendations are Nessun Dorma from Giacomo Puccini’s Italian opera called Turandot, Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar)basically provides a Broadway level performance), Bring me to Life-Evanescence (which has the growls, screams, whispers, and his amazing voice), I’ll make a man out of you-Disney’s Mulan (incl. collabs with other YT singers), Sound of Silence (Disturbed’s version), and too many more to list. Dan has an incredible gift to make a very well known song and completely make it his own and in some cases improve it, imo. Lastly, I just love that Dan brings people from all over the world to come together for something positive, to simply enjoy the sound of his amazing musical abilities and to have an epic day ❤❤❤❤

@@meb8582 I haven't heard him sing Japanese--can you steer me to that? I HAVE heard him sing his native (Brazilian) Portuguese, German, Italian, and of course his lovely-accented English. I would love to hear whatever it is wherein he sings Japanese! In Fearless, Davi is the bass guitarist. Gabriel Belozi is the electric guitarist (though he plays acoustic, when he and Dan are playing the--still very few--songs (including Loch Lomond) in their Spyglass Inn series.

Yes, sexiest guy on the planet sings my favorite song with such depth! This is one of my very favorite renditions. It's pretty easy to count, due to the very accurate beat of the music. When he gets to the final bit of chin-vibrato with the word, "Ahaaaaaaaaa..." he has carried that last breath for 27 seconds. I think he might have carried it a bit further, yet, capability-wise, but the accompaniment (which he arranged) mandated otherwise. 😀

Dan Vasc is a force of nature! I was brought up a Southern Baptist in the Deep South, so I’ve heard this hymn too many times to count - so many times that I almost lost my appreciation of its beauty - until I heard Dan sing it. He took my breath away! I always enjoy your reactions and look forward to them. You are also one of a kind, my favorite reactor, and I wish all good things for you. Don’t ever leave out the ‘suuur’!

Dan has already done everything you just mentioned that he should do. Yes! I just found him last month and am working my way through his incredible catalog. So many genres. Covers that are often better than the originals. Songs I've never heard before and now can't stop listening to. You've got to subscribe to his KZbin channel and prepare yourself to be amazed. He's my new favorite vocalist. Dan arranged this song, played the instruments, recorded and edited the video, and has written songs for his band, Fearless, in Brazil. You're right, that young man is beautiful. So many metal singers ARE just growling and screaming and not using their singing voice, whether they CAN sing or not. Well-placed screams, shouting, intensity is good. In fact, it's great as Mr. Vasc has proven here. THIS is not the average example of metal. THIS is strong, brave, a warrior unashamedly calling out his praise of his Lord. If those other metal singers CAN sing, then they need to do more of it. Grab that microphone like a war club and sing with power, sing with strength. Sing with hard conviction. But sing, not bark and scream. It's beautiful. Mr. Vasc does other genre of music the same way. Even Disney sounds good like this! (I'm not normally a Disney music fan.)

You nailed it with the word “triumphant! “ Dan Vascular has given me an “ah ha “ moment. MODERN HEAVY METAL IS TODAYS VERSION OF OPERA! A few centuries ago opera was the expression of anger, pain, betrayal, grief and more Opera singers use voice with power from deep down They have no need to take a huge breath. Metal is the way people can express their pain and grief in a healthy cathartic way. I see metal as modern opera with microphone. I am in my seventies and have a new respect for the abilities of some metal singers. Having said that there are a few that just yell and scream. The ability to do the fry scream tunefully is pure talent. There is a singer in Australia called John Farnham who can also sing anything. Started in the sixties and only recently retired at 73 due to ill health. Please check him out. But Dan Vascular has a Divine gift. He sings in Latin, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and English Covers songs from Elvis , opera, Christmas carols, and many metal songs. I could listen to him sing the instructions from my new oven. Dive in and enjoy!

I saw someone else (above) mention that he speaks Japanese...hadn't heard that before, but I wouldn't put it past him. I also didn't know about the Spanish, but that's also not surprising, because Portuguese is similar, as is Italian. I learned (just yesterday, actually), that Portuguese is based on Latin, and that a lot of Portuguese-speaking people rely heavily on Latin. As for Italian, it evidently developed from what is called Vulgar--Latin--or whatever the local dialect of Latin would have been being used, that then became the catalyst for the official Italian language. German (I didn't look it up) was more than likely from a dialectical Latin-speaking group of people.

Green Hazel. I know, because my eyes are the same color. When I was young, people would always comment about how changeable they are. It depends on what one is wearing, and the lighting. Most of my family (my husband and I have six kids--I had four, he had one, & we added one, together--22 grandkids, and five great-grandkids) have one shade or another of hazel eyes. Generally speaking, there would be green-hazel, brown-hazel, grey-hazel, and what might either be called blue-hazel, or light-grey hazel. Also, I agree about Dan's "Nessun Dorma." My other favorite operatic song he does, is "Son of Pain." Of course, there are then the three "Phantom" songs, and the "Beauty and the Beast" theme. Oh, so beautiful--every single one.

Yes, you can definitely add Dan Vasc to your stable of "Oh, so you think metal singers can't sing, do you? Well listen to THIS, then!" He's done a ton of stuff that's equally awesome. I still remember the first time I heard his cover of 'Wuthering Heights' - even knowing the original, as well as already having heard some of his covers, I did NOT expect him to do what he did to open that song! (You'll know what I mean when you hear it.) He's also done 'Kiss From a Rose' as a duet with Voilet Orlandi, 'Nessum Dorma' (which you mentioned,) 'Bring Me To Life,' 'I'll Make A Man Out Of You' from 'Mulan' and a ton of others. That expression on your face is very much like my first expression when I heard this version. Dan has a "Vasc" catalogue of covers, from Disney, to Broadway to great metal anthems. Loved the reaction! I don't think you need to be overtly religious to appreciate this piece, but to know it was penned by the Englishman John Newton who, once a captain of a slave ship, converted to Christianity after an encounter with God in a violent storm and that's its historic roots. He became an ordained Anglican Minister for the Church of England and fought slavery as a social justice activist. He inspired William Wilberforce, a British member of Parliament, to fight to abolish slave trading in England. Dan Vasc is a recent find for me but is a rabbit hole I'm more than happy to dive into. Across all genres, his performances are outstanding and never disappoint. If you'd like to see his acting skills too, check out 'Gethsemane' from the musical 'Jesus Christ Superstar' as it is, without doubt, the best I've ever seen (at the shows) as was his rendition of 'Amazing Grace.' This man's talents know no bounds. So many others to mention but it would be pages long, so I'll stop here!

I love Amazing Grace. It was written by a man that owned slave ships for twenty years. He converted to Christianity, got rid of the ships, became a pastor, and wrote this song in thanks for saving him from that evil life! It makes the whole song different when you know the backstory.

He kept showing up on my YT and I kept thinking “no way am I watching Amazing Grace by a metal singer.” I finally broke down and listened and was absolutely blown away by Dan. I love how raw & delicate he started the song even with the slight echo & with each verse exposing more talent & intensity. Dan Vasc has a God given talent that he has perfected into what it is today. He sang this song the way it was MEANT to be sung with such respect, emotion & with a POWERFUL impact. I FELT the presence of GOD!!! This is the absolute very BEST version of Amazing Grace that I've EVER heard in my ENTIRE life & I'm old (LOL). Im a mess! 😭😭😭 & I've watched it HUNDREDS of times since God brought it across my feed shortly after it's release after Easter. Im a PK (Preacher's Kid) and have heard this sung and sung it many ways and thousands of times throughout my 55 years. My beloved Granny used to play harmonica like that! I play piano and come from a very musical and God-fearing family (on BOTH sides!). During family events/ reunions we'd often gather around and sing great hymns (and this one, of course was ALWAYS a hit!). I'd play piano and she played harmonica... but this is HANDS-DOWN THE ABSOLUTE 💯 💯 💯 BEST performance I've EVER heard!! I feel as if all of Heaven stopped to listen! Your history is much like mine, Donna. I wasn't a PK, but we grew up in church, basically--both of my parents were believers, though with quite different outlooks. My dad was much like Dan, with his view of winning battles and victory...I got that from him. My mom was a hugely-skilled classic violinist until she discovered bluegrass, at which time her violins became fiddles, and she basically went full-stream bluegrass from her 60s until her last concert (which is on my Grandma's Gone Gaming channel--search for Grandma Phyl on that channel) in her late 80s. Our whole family is musical, right down through my own six kids, our 22 grandkids, and (from what I've heard), even our five great-grandkids. It's what we do. I, too, play piano, as well as trumpet (I prefer cornet), auto-harp, guitar (though I can't hold one correctly to play it any longer), recorder, penny whistles, and accordion. We also all sing, which is REALLY what I always wanted to do, since I was around two years old. I had lost a lot of my 6-octave range, due to rheumatoid arthritis, but since I had both hips replaced in 2017, I've been gaining ground on getting that range back. Watching and listening to Dan show us HOW to do that, brought back learned techniques that had slid away over the years of not being able to sing above my BASS range (which my grandkids love telling people about--lol). I also agree with you about "such a time as this!" Glory to God!!!

He actually DOES have a bit of an accent when he's just speaking (it's lovely). When he's singing, he is used to singing in other languages, and really, because of the quality of his SO-well-trained voice, it makes his English words just sound quite impeccable, rather than sounding foreign.

My sister-in-law is a retired Viennese opera singer. When I sent her Dan Vasc video, her response was he had obvious operatic training. The tells: his posture, breath control, vocal cord fold control, and ability to sing an entire phrase on a single breath.
