What a truly fantastic race That’s what racing is all about. I was sitting on the edge of my seat for the whole last 5 furlongs Three quality horses slogging it out. Race of the year to date for sure!

Thrilling it was as the old man kept himself going after he was checked twice .Hollie leaned over towards him when he was looking to make his final run and then with horse in front falling back he had to check before Atzeni went all out. But kyprios at the finish was compelling. Ryan moore is a great rider not without a reason.

No horse can beat Kyprios if Stradivarius came up sides he would pull away as he is a better horse over further.Stradivarius has for years run against mediocrity (the handicapper says that with his ratings) but the real big boy now is Kyprios and as he is just starting out his ratings will far exceed what Stradivarius ever did.For the last two years Stradivarius has not won at the top table of stayers races and has only beaten inferior opposition during that period.

As John Gosden himself said, Strad did get to Kyprios anyway, and maybe even his head in front at some point, but the winner just found yet another gear. Kyprios looks like the type of horse that will rarely win by far as he just loves a good fight. He quickened once Trueshan got to him, and quickened again when Strad got to him. Reminds me a little bit of Giant's Causeway.

Trueshan always a handful as usual and ran great race considering not ideal ground. Ryan made sure he was never in trouble and knows the horse has a lot on the tank. I do think Trueshan will give him a a real race on soft ground providing Hollie can keep him under control

Stradivarius really unlucky to have had the door slammed in his face on multiple occassions throughout the race as it unfolded. That being said, he did finally get into the clear and looked for a moment like he was about to notch a 5th Goodwood Cup. The final burst of speed that Ryan Moore got from Kyprios inside the final furlong was really impressive, because it looked like Kyprios was about to flatten out and be lucky to hit the board himself.

Not that either would have beaten Kyprios.Gosden is being told he's retiring then the owner gets wrapped up in thinking he is second finds excuses to go on t.v. and tell everyone he's racing on and going to York. Life is what is happening while we work it out, sentiments are spoilers, often there’s a bad luck story. Was this a bad luck story, any professional would agree to the open door, close door passage Strad was subjected to, once again as in his earlier run he had to deal with traffic problems, Hollie closed the gap on him, she was definitely in the running and had her job on hand, she’s as good as the lads. By this time Strad lost precious ground, had he traveled in a straight line he was the winner. Absolutely no one gives his mount a better ride than Ryan Moore, he delivers that EXTRA. Strad lives to fight another day, forget the tired legs story, he’s a champion horse.

Hollie didn't help herself either. Trueshan is not a horse with 2-3 accelerations. She had the opportunity to go past Kyprios but instead decided to steady her horse to keep Stradivarius in, and instead ended up in a boxing fight which Kyprios and Ryan Moore were always going to win. She ended up beating herself by trying to keep Stradivarius boxed in.

Atzeni panic after trueshan loomed up next to him. He would of flew past them all but what does atzeni do? He rides the horse into the back of other horses gets checked and therefore ruins momentum again. Probably the most painful races ive ever seen because strad was the best horse today (if you know you know) and was meant to retire after this win which was smuggled away by Atzeni who was sleeping.
