Love the gold slip cover. Very tempted to get this one. They need to do a vol 2 so we can get all the issues drawn by George. His run on Teen titans would be great to see in this format. War of the gods would look amazing in this format. Looking forward to the Absolute Swamp thing vol 3 too.

Man the 3-omni set was cheaaap for ages ,thats how i got it too (150€ for all 3,50+40+60 respectively for 1,2,3)bc i always loved his art) I swear ppl only started to care after Perez' health announcement by which time they were already oop

@@ComicsGranPa Well, for starters, I wanted his run before I heard about his health, as I was a fan of Wonder Woman from the movie. This was a couple of months before news of his health broke out. Secondly, I find your comment incredibly rude and inconsiderate to those who want to honor a great artist in their own way. She was never written as a female Superman like ever. I’ve been reading her books since 1977 so I’m not sure why someone would even think that She has the invisible plane she did not fly like Superman or Shazam did, she did fly on Air Currents. Her entire origin is completely worlds apart from Superman

I expect we`ll get more of Perez`s art in this format since his health announcement. I think they limited the run of the JLA/ Avengers reprint because they`re going give that series the same Absolute treatment.

I believe the current thinking is that 7000 was the largest print run they could accomplish quickly while George is still around to benefit from it. Strongly doubt there is an Absolute reprint on the horizon

I have the omnis but this book is beautiful, so buying it is a no brainer. The only concern is the binding may fall apart. Whey you show the eye I see the first couple of signatures loosen up.

I was really on the fence with this edition. I have the omnis and wasn't sure when or if I'd get this. With George's passing this week, felt like I needed to grab it as my little remembrance and mourning of him. Gonna re read this is it's best presentation and appreciate everything George gifted us. Rest in Peace George, you will be missed.

Oh yes. Ordering this tonight. Great review. I'm a fan of gimmicks like this too. Like the Absolute swamp thing books having that green mossy texture or Absolute Preacher looking like a bible. Showing the slipcase spine and book spine comparison was great.. always something I look for in reviews. And yes I tuck those little sheets that come with the book in the back of the book as well.

Gorgeous book. I'd like to get the omnis if they're ever reprinted to collect the whole run but I'd be tempted to do a spendy double dip just to collect the issues with George's artwork in the absolute format. It's crazy how much George Perez means to all of us, he's basically the only creator I'd do that for.

George inker Action Comics 600 and I think he actually drew her in it. It was from a suggestion I submitted asking for a Titans Legion crossover where George would draw the Titans and Keith would draw the Legion with George doing backgrounds for the 20th century and Keith doing backgrounds for the 31st century. He said it was a go but it never marr it past the initial conversations. So he made up for it with Action Comics 600

I just got it in earlier this week, it is high quality thick matte paper, it looks wonderful. I really hope there is a second volume of this one.

It looks like a beautiful book but a major problem is that it is not co- terminus with the original Omnis. So, if you wanted to upgrade your volume 1 with this you would still have to hold on to your Volume 1 as this does not have issues 15-24 in it.

I’d buy this for the endpapers alone! I have the omnis so at this stage I don’t think I’ll add the absolute. But what a beautiful book!

Hey Omar, this looks Absolutely amazing (pardon the pun). However I have the 3 Perez WW Omnis plus "Gods & Mortals" in a HC trade which are enough for me. You're correct about the denseness of the dialogue but the artwork is simply beautiful. Hope the unpacking is progressing nicely. Once you get on a roll you'll get a lot done. The new layout looks interesting. Did you take your existing Billy & Kallax shelves or buy new ones? Best wishes mate. I can empathise with your situation. I love the fact that there is lots of reading. When I was a boy it could take you a half hour to read a comic. Now it’s 5 to 10 minutes. That’s why I am not keen on new comics and prefer this era.

I have these in floppies and the omnibus and I checked this out to see if they resolved the reproduction problems in some of the issues and hearing that they didn't is definitely disappointing. Also Action Comics 600 should've been included...it's Byrne inked by Perez and directly ties in. Damn it, DC.

Issue 600 should have been included in the Omnibus! It really upset me that it wasn’t. When you read the book, a few months before issue 600 George starts laying the groundwork for the meeting with Superman. Then an issue ends with a lead in to 600 and we never get to see it! Perez and Byrne worked closely together for the crossover and the Omnibus ignores it. It’s especially sad because Perez inked Byrne issue 600!

@@NearMintCondition the omnibus already has oversized art and great quality paper. I am not paying 160 plus dollars for a slightly bigger build. Bookmark or no bookmark. Plus there is more material in the omnibus. I am very doubtful that DC will release other volumes of the absolute. Plus nothing beats the art underneath the dust jacket of the omnibus. That is just plain gorgeous.
