Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。In the FIRST TAKE version, the girls proved that they can do anything. They have forced people to headbang with their heavy music and sharp choreo. Now they can depict various images by just singing and project them into the listeners' brain to move people emotionally. I witnessed Pia Arena performance at the venue where and when Momoko was inducted into BABYMETAL officially. Yes, she had a headset mic for the first time like Moa has had since BM's inception. I sang the ♪ oh oh ohoo ♪ part with Momometal with my loudest voice in the show holding my phone. I was in bliss, for sure! The flying drones with cameras that enabled the beautiful aerial cinematograph were manipulated by experts including Ms. Shiraishi. She is a member of team Japan for World Drone Racing Championship. Our Kami Band played in the girls' back. They have supported BABYMETAL since 2019. Japanese fans always appreciate the devoted support like knights by Chris, CJ, Anthony, and 3 bassists (Clint, Ryan, Matt). They are really unsung heroes.

Hello, fluglehornoldman, another insightful comment and thoughtful inclusion of your experience of this song at PIA Arena (I am very jealous of you). I found this reaction so interesting that I am going to send the link to Professor Hartley, I'm sure he would appreciate another intelligent and respectful person reacting to Babymetal. (Prof. Hartley dropped a video on his Patreon last night, my time, expressing some of the frustrations that Babymetal fans experience; he isn't sure if he is going to release it onto KZbin as it could bring him some hate). Anyway, my friend, stay well and keep going to BM concerts in Japan, you are living the best life.

I saw BM perform this live in Brisbane in 2023, their performance of this song in an intimate room of around 3,000 fans moved me to tears, and I am a 61yo hardened metal fan. One of the things that pleased me most about being at that concert was that I was standing at a balcony rail next to a 14yo girl who was attending her first live concert, she was so excited to see Babymetal and from the moment BM walked onto the stage till the moment they walked off after their encores, she participated in every crowd chant and fist pump. She clearly knew every song on the set list and enthusiastically became a member of The One. It made me realize that the future of metal music is in safe hands.

Jaron, it's so refreshing to see someone who clearly knows what they are talking about giving such detailed analysis of what they are watching. I found your analysis of The First Take version particularly interesting where you explained a lot about the importance of correct posture when singing and your clear and digestible explanations around jaw and tongue positioning. Most other reactors have no understanding of this, while those rare ones that do, tend to drift off topic and talk about their experiences and training. Whilst this can be interesting, most of their viewers aren't normally very interested in watching a band's video, only to hear the reactor turn the spotlight onto themselves. All in all, a really good reaction and analysis. I also like the multiple version approach to songs where available. This does two things: 1. It gives your viewer a better look at the band and helps showcase them in different settings and different versions of a song, and 2. It gives you, the reactor, a better understanding of the band and the song because most reactors will watch one version of a song and tick that box and never go back to experience the other versions. The multiple version approach allows you to learn more and experience more than watching one version. Great stuff, keep the good s*it coming.

Not surprised that they have good posture (as they very well know how to use their body for dancing) and that especially Su-metal knows uses a lot of good technique, because with the dancing, she needs to have amazing breath control. Something interesting to point out about her pronunciation this is the top Japanese comment on the first take video (I assume Su-metal/team Babymetal have seen the comment too): I was born with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss. I can't hear sounds well, including vowels and consonants. I've seen many singers, but SU-METAL is the first one whose lyrics I could hear so clearly. I was shocked by Sonisphere in 2014, and my life changed in many ways, including going to a lot of live shows even though I don't go to live shows, and buying expensive earphones. There are many things I don't like about my hearing loss, but I would like to thank SU-METAL for giving me the joy of listening to songs.

Some random details/facts: About the bottles, something people noticed about the huge performance at Tokyo Dome in 2016, with 55 000 people for 2 nights in a row sold out, they also had it there and the bottle caps are colored. And it very much seemed to be the same colors they were associated with all the way back in 2011 outside of Babymetal when they were still kids. Somehow it feels like they are humble, like they stayed the same, from maybe a venue with a 100+ people or so all the way up to 55 000 (we've seen reports about how humble they are, so it's probably right to assume). 22:22 the reason Su-metal called out both Moametal and Momometal, because this was the very first performance when Momometal was a member. 24:02 maybe it's just me, but Su-metal always sings with passion and it almost looks like she is crying there. I don't know if this is true, but I saw a claim that Dragonforce also does this get your phone out part and Babymetal was inspired by them. Babymetal did this ones in the past, in 2017 when they opened for Red Hot Chili Peppers in Washington, DC. And then we never saw it again until this song and now it's a staple and when they don't perform Monochrome it's Karate and they do it during the song Karate.

Monochrome is undoubtedly the standout song from The Other One. It's become a staple part of their touring live set (alternating with Karate), they've now performed it live 119 times. The First Take version is something special as we hardly ever get to see them do something stripped back like that where all the focus is on Su's vocals to showcase her technique. I was at PIA Arena for the live performance it was beyond spectacular. The whole performance was magical, but the moment where Su had us pull out our phones and she hummed for us was something else. The first time she asked us to pull our phones out we were surprised, because photography is strictly forbidden at Babymetal shows in Japan, but when the Queen demands we have to obey. On this occasion we were all ready for it. At all Babymetal shows, the place is pumped full of smoke to facilitate the lighting and laser show. The production design of their shows in Japan is always next level, which is part of what makes it so worth making the trip to Japan to see them.

Su-, of course, Moa, former member Yui, and then Momoko all have good postures. I have been impressed by this for a long time. They have good postures always when they sing, dance or even in interviews. In The First Take, it is important to bend the knees slightly, the position of the jaw, chin tip and tongue, I learnt a lot. I originally became a big fan of BM by Su-'s vocals, and what I like about her, it is that she sings without any weird habits, she sings straight. Her Japanese pronunciation is so beautiful that even Japanese people can clearly understand the words she sings. Of course, I have several favorite vocalists in Japan expect for her. But for me, it is quite unusual. In my opinion, Japanese pop rock singers tend to have weird curly tongues in the singing, or unsteady pitch with forced singing, and I never got used to them (I was a nasty kid, still am, haha), so I have escaped to certain Japanese jazz fusion for very long time. But she opened me up from that kind of sneering, haha. The third live video is ‘Clear Night’, the second day of the ‘BABYMETAL Begins’ show at Pia Arena MM, Yokohama in April 2023. Momoko became an official member of BM on this night and she was wearing a headphone microphone at this time. I only attended the ‘Black Night’ the day before this show, so unfortunately I was not able to see this monochrome performance. But I witness Monochrome's first live performance at ‘BABYMETAL Returns’ in January of the same year. And from then, Su- told us ‘Take your cell phones out and turn on the lights’. I remember I was very confused, because in Japan too, almost all live shows use electronic tickets, so we enter with our cell phones, but in Japan it is usually forbidden to record live performances. Thank you from Japan!

You were very quiet during the piano version, and I totally see why. This version destroys me every time. The beauty and emotion in Su's voice is fantastic, it gets me every time. As someone who is trying to learn Japanese, I keep noticing her outstandingly clear enunciation. And in this video, it's plain to see that this is no coincidence, she is very mindful and really works for it. When I heard the album version for the first time, it took me a little while to get used to it, because the intro, especially the fast bass drum beats, made me expect a much heavier song than it ended up being. But live, that part rips so hard, especially after the soft, atmospheric prelude. I love that! In the live version, I like that the "secondary" guitar parts that are pretty far in the background on the album version, come much more to the front. They give the song a lot more depth and variety, in my opinion. Kudos to your keen eye, I watched this so often and never noticed the drinks on stage!

Nice one, times 3!!! You have gone from a Babymetal noob a few months ago, to a Kitsune who knows how to create top quality content for other fans. One of the top reactors out there. Yuyoyuppe, who wrote this (and also wrote From Dusk till Dawn BTW) is known for 5 things composition/sound wise: Catchy choruses or verses that are the heart of the song. Contrasting bursts of intensity and moments of serenity in the same song. Changing/shifting drum patterns that sound groovy no matter the genre. Distinctive and glitchy sounding EDM sounds and sublime guitar instrumentation. Packing his songs with undefinable but uplifiting emotions. You find these traits in most of his works, not only for Babymetal. He became a DJ to learn from EDM music and incorporate what he learned from that into metal music and vice versa. Him writing for Su though, just creates a mystical power that goes beyond words. Just saying 'Wow!!!', is all anyone really needs to say when it comes to being hit with a Yu+Su double whammy combo.
