If you're interested in learning more, look at laws of the game "Law 12, Section 3 - Fouls and Misconduct". "Unsporting Behaviour" is a yellow card offense and encapsulates many types of behaviours including the one here. It would be something along the lines of "Committing any other offense which interferes with or stops a promising attack" or "showing a lack of respect for the game" - both potential reasons to show a yellow for unsporting behaviour. Only team officials or substitutes would get a red card for throwing an object onto the field of play. The only reasons one of the 11 players on the field can receive a red card are: DOGSO (Denial of obvious goal-scoring opportunity) Serious Foul Play (endangering the safety of an opponent or using excessive force against an opponent). Biting/Spitting Violent Conduct OFFINABUS (Offensive, insulting, or abusive language or actions) 2 yellow cards What the player did doesn't fall under any of these categories.

They cannot 'close the gap' between themselves and the kicker, especially after the ref blows the whistle and the kicker takes their shot. It's not much different from sprinting straight at a free kick in the moments before a kick is made.

That first one: I'd almost have awarded a goal if the Laws would've allowed me. TWO red-card DOGSOs, including outside interference by the coach?? Was the second guy investigated for match-fixing? That was about as deliberate of a sendoff for the purposes of being sent off as I've ever seen. Carded for the timewasting, does it again, then dives. Then sits on the ground til the ref is forced... The PK GK: Should've been sent off for the dissent, that being his second. Should've been cautioned for being off the line. Next one: Should've been abandonment. You do not fucking touch the ref.
