The 3 most stressful football years of my life
@tommyl.dayandtherunaways8204 ай бұрын
2011 - the classic 8-8 season. Massive blown leads, an all-time gutsy performance from Romo against the 49ers, baffling coaching decisions, backbreaking turnovers and penalties, the traditional December collapse after a 7-4 start. Classic cowboys 3 ring circus. This one was definitely the most entertaining and the one that pissed me off the most because this team actually had some potential. 2012 - The half-decent sequel. First half of the year they looked like toast, then suddenly caught fire, only to crash back down to earth. Not as many iconic moments as 2011 but you still had Kevin Ogletree randomly becoming a hall of famer for one night, the Dez finger out of bounds, RGIII laying waste to the Cowboys defense, and yet more baffling coaching decisions (such as this game) 2013 - The Karate Kid III of these seasons. It was played out by this point. This year’s whole gimmick was our historically bad defense (and 2020 already surpassed that), and other than that, it was just a tired retread of the past two years. Another choke against the Lions and not even as entertaining as the 2011 one, some more bad play calling, blowing a big lead vs Matt Flynn. Losing a game 51-48 in which Romo basically played perfectly, only to get stepped on by his own lineman and throw a pick, and get blamed for the entire loss. We didn’t even get to see Romo get a chance to redeem himself in week 17, instead, we got to watch the backup (I wanna say Kyle Orton?) put on an okay-ish performance and tamely lose for another 8-8.

He put the team in position to beat 4 of the 6 Super Bowl teams from 2011-2013 2011 Giants - had the cowboys up by 12 against NY until our defense decided to stop playing, then Bailey had the game tying kick blocked 2011 Patriots - Had the Cowboys up by 3 until the defense decided to give up a backbreaking game ending drive to Tom Brady (this one I can at least understand, it’s Tom Brady, and it’s Foxborough) 2012 Ravens - had the Cowboys in position to win until Garrett’s clock management screwed them over 2013 Broncos - Put on a flawless performance to give the Cowboys 48 points, only to be outdone by one of the worst defensive performances of all time, then still got blamed for the loss when he threw a game ending pick, even though he was clearly being stepped on by his own lineman. Also worth noting that even though they weren’t in the Super Bowl that year (though they should have been), Romo did also lead an iconic comeback win (while playing through a punctured lung) on the road against the 2011 49ers, who were basically the same team that went to the bowl in 2012.
