Such an appropriate soundtrack for the video fx made by the camera autofocus bringing the Volca text labels in and out of focus. Probably accidental? Completely wonderful.

so you chained 4 programs together to create a 64 step sequence and decided to switch the kit instead of the pattern to create the bass line melody on the fly. that's pretty cool. the drum is the best volca by a long shot in my opinion. i love mine. i abuse the probability, wave resonator and step jump to give my jams their variety but seeing this I should clearly be abusing the kit changes too. this one is a banger. had my head nodding as soon as you made the bass line melodic by switching the kit.
@human-47 Жыл бұрын
Yeah cloning the kit multiple times and making slight changes to things like pitch of the sub bass for example allows for "kind of" melodies on the drum. Personally I rarely play with probability, i really should though! Same with step jump but on the rare occasion I do use it it sound epic! Thanks for stopping by dude, glad you enjoy the noise!

@@human-47 yeah man once you get good at programming the probability in the right spots and switching up it up to trigger split step variations you can make a 16 step pattern feel like a 128 step pattern or better. add step jump in there and the fact it can retrigger and loop as many steps as you can hold down on and then jump right back to where it would be in the sequence (or you can change it to continue from last step you triggered) and it gets wacky. not sure if you are aware but you can also get it to 'hold' the step jump and loop it without having to keep holding down on the steps. to do this you can trigger the step jump by holding down whatever step(s) you want to repeat with step jump enabled, then press and hold the step jump button and release the steps you are holding down before releasing the step jump button. boom, now you are looping whatever steps you step jumped without having to keep holding them down. to get out of it just hit any step you want. but then there is another trick you can do too. you can press step jump button again and it will start blinking and allow you to play the parts individually on top of the repeating step / loop. you can also then hit edit step and edit the individual part sequences or add bit reduction, wave fold, etc.. to the parts while it's looping said steps. to get out, hit step jump again so it's not blinking and like earlier, just hit any step you want. I've seen basically all the in depth tutorials (including undulations 5 part crazy deep dive) and I'm pretty sure nobody goes into all this, the manual sure as hell doesn't either.

I came here because the title of the video made me think it's about critising ("destroying") the Volca Drum. Instead, the video is about "properly using" it. Since you and I obviously do not speak the same language, I will not recommend your content to my folks.

@@jenstrudenau9134 nah as someone who owns this thing and abuses it similarly you are mostly hearing the Drum with minimal daw. He is coloring the sound a bit via his daw but not as much as you think and it's all sequenced and played live on the Drum. The Drum is really just that nasty.
