Absolutely EPIC Salmon Fishing With My Wife - Russian River, ALASKA!

Join us on an absolutely AWESOME day of fishing the INCREDIBLE Russian River in Alaska. This video outlines the general gear needed to fish the Sockeye Salmon run in this river, and shows both my wife and I catching our limits, which was 3 salmon per person.
My wife and I have fished this river together in the summer for the past 5 years or so, and it is always very special to be able to catch these awesome fish with her, as she is from Alaska and the Russian River is near and dear to her heart.

Russian River flies are a standard for sockeye salmon. You can get them for pretty cheap at Walmart or any tackle/fly shop in the area 🙂🙂✌️🎣

Definitely! People fish with spinning rods for sockeye salmon all the time. You use flies like I was using, but all the weight/split-shot you use allows you to cast the flies easily with a spinning rod. 🙂✌️🎣

Everyone always says you have to floss the fish in the river cause they won’t bite.. but it looks like they’re biting here. Is it just a matter of it still being early in the run or something? Sweet video btw, heading out to the Russian for the first time this weekend!

Nice man, hope you have fun and get on some fish this weekend! I disagree with many about the "sockeye don't bite" thing; to me, they are like any other fish, where they bite (use their mouths) defensively even if they aren't eating. You can irritate them with the flies, and they will snap at the flies just to get rid of the irritant. So, they aren't biting to eat, but they'll still bite. 🤙✌️🎣
