The current generation of audio enthusiasts have no idea how back in the day one had to "Pay Their Dues" over many years to learn what you are giving away for free. There were no sources of easy answers and information. I have been around long enough to know that you are the real deal. Your no nonsense, to the point, "Fluff-Free" content is refreshing to say the least. I love the way you make a statement, back it up with fact, and make a real world comparison to similar products. Well said. This new generation of kids are going around spreading that the Brazilian is the inventor of the Full Bridge amp board. Back in 2000 I had a few of the USAmps VLX 400. From what I was told back when I bought these amps is that Jack “the owner of USAmps” took 2 half bridge amps and linked them together to make a full bridge amp.
@nathantaufer7670 Жыл бұрын
You were lied to. What he meant was he strapped two amps.
@hack0well Жыл бұрын
2 Strapped half bridges becomes a full bridge albeit in 2 different cases. This is why you cant "Strap" a full bridge. Strapping involves inverting one amps input signal in relation to phase with the other resulting in one amp making positive half of the sine wave and the other making negative half. This is all just in relation to the original signal, and is the reason it is VERY important that both amps are putting out as close as possible rail voltage so the combined output sinewave is symmetrical. Linking the Negative speaker outputs together and using the positives makes a complete Sinewave, think of it as 1 amplifier makes top of sine wave, and other makes the bottom but in all honesty positive and negative is relative in the AC signal that you end up with depending on phase.@@nathantaufer7670
@hack0well Жыл бұрын
I happen to have a VLX400 which is indeed 2 amplifier boards inside one huge case and it is indeed strapped. They are 2 identical boards but one is missing the input section. I will dig it out of my storage unit to confirm as I haven't looked at it in 10 years but when I replaced all the TIP35C and TIP36C outputs to refresh it @jasonnea's comment was what I feel to be correct. Mine is anodized Purple, and one of the early models that have square endcaps. I owned TrafficJamz Inc in Palatka FLorida, about 45 min from Gainesville where they were handmade in an old church so I saw a lot of USAmps and used they to compete for a while. My personal favorite is the 50HC, with the 100HC being a close second. These amps didn't have an EQ or Crossover, just a pair of inputs and a gain with some 8gauge power wires hanging out of a grommet. It was common to hear people say you could "Weld with them", which really just meant they were hard to burn up and were low ohm stable, but I swear everyone said that back in the day.

What's up barevids. Just want to say I watch and enjoy your vids and knowledge on amplifiers, subs and car audio period. I'm a car audio competitor from Pittsburgh Pa. I been into car audio since 1990 when I got my Driver's license at age 25. But your never too old to learn. I have 737 trophies to date in car audio. So I have a question. I'm currently running 8-Taramp MD8Ks. The preamp settings, like the LPF, exactly where should that be set? I actually turn it all the way to the right. I make that setting on my HU to 80hz. Since the HU is the main brains of the system, I figure it controls everything. Now I am running line driver eq's as well. I use to set my amps the same way, but I noticed most competitors turn that setting off: (to the right). Also is 80hz too high? That's another setting I learned that competitors set it at. No I don't play frequencies' that high, lol. But I do Burp and street beat day to day as well. My wall is tuned to 34hz. My resonate frequency of my car is 43hz. so that's the test tune I burp. I also run most of my amps at .5ohm. which is .6ohm on my fluke. I've had my MDs this way for 2yrs now with no issues. I rise to 1.4ohm. I've ran all my amps @.5ohm rather chinese, Korean, or Brazilian.

Why don't more manufacturers use the planar transformers in the power supply section?
@ceciljones12482 жыл бұрын
So they are pretty decent amplifiers? I have another question for you? Why do you hear bass playing through a Korean amplifier when every thing is turned off vs my taramps?
@BeSome12 жыл бұрын
I really do like the circuit. And I would like to support the brand however At the current asking price, roughly $599 U.S for a 3.5k(from my research) I need to see some more modern features To purchase. For example daul inputs, higher quality pre-amp/ crossover section, panel mount rca etc. I understand they are fairly new to the market. But if they are going to charge the price of more established brands with these features. I'm going to need to see a bit more. I do feel it has a lot of Potential.
@barevids2 жыл бұрын
Thats a very reasonable price, have you seen the price of a 3.5k amp from the likes of DD, DC, sundown etc using outdated inefficient 20year old circuits with no active health check or thought to reparability? its like 3 times the price!
@BeSome12 жыл бұрын
In the states to get a powerus amplifier it is the same cost or more than a (D4S) Korean built of the same power. That is also dependenon if you can even get a powerus amplifi which has proven very difficult from any reputable dealer

You are awesome! Wish I would've pursued an education in electronics. I has a free pass. My dad was a tech ror Montgomery Ward, he fixed TVs, srereos, two way radio, warshers, dryers, ect. If it was broke, he could fix it. He tried to get me to pay attention, but I was too busy at the keggers..lol.. He's long gone now. I'm now 53 and trying to understand all the shit you said about that amp. :)

What an awesome video, i don't really know much about all this. Im abiutto but all new hardware for my upgrade. Im currently running two sundown ev12s. Ive just ordered two BASSFACE SPL15.2S D2 SUBWOOFERS @ 2100w rms each, im looking at this amp or pw5000 version. Im gonna the subs in series parallel, so they'll be running 2 ohm together. Which amp would recommend for them subs.
@barevids3 жыл бұрын
Urgh god. Try and cancel the order on those subs or send them back. Worst subs you could have bought literally garbage. Not even half their RMS rating. If only you researched first.
@TwIzTeDSpIcE3 жыл бұрын
@@barevids ah shit, are they really that bad? I currently have 2 sundown ev12s at 500w rms, wanted something bigger and louder but on a tight budget.

i see you have the same pet peeve as me, people who don't have a clue as to what they are even referring, nor how it even works, an in most cases have just heard something from another fools mouth. who too couldn't explain how what they are so adamantly bashing, worked if there own life depended on it. i am assuming attempting to look informed and educated about audio. people STOP doing this you only looking like a Big Fool to anyone who is Actually well versed in audio. ps. for anyone truly interested don't take advice for anyone handing out his opinion as if it was text book, if he or she cant tell you the first thing of what he has been referring truly works and a little science behind it ;-) pss. Sam here is one of the best, you can learn loads from this channel, i know i have. even managed to get some knowledge through this thick scull of mine who now has 4 or 5 repairs of my own blown amps fixed thanks to him and his video. hell i didn't know it was even possible before finding his channel. thanks Sam!

Bro question what the Difference on The Taramps HD series & MD version ??
@eurekaakerue46493 жыл бұрын
❌MD line was designed for the 12volt U.S. Market different output devices for more tank build & higher current less voltage ,opposite of HD line built more for pro audio Brazilian like concerts, think high hertz bass not low bottom / both MD & Bass lines built for US market HD was not reliable do to high current setups compared to high voltage setups in Brazil 🇧🇷 I personally run MD line because they put out a bit more power then bass line // I have the limited Premier MD8k with better Capacitors and voltage meter and chrome heat sinks// but the chrome Ltd are no longer available 😫 the _full-throttle_ blazer uses two of them on four sundown zv5 15” doing 160+db they replace his blow Soundigitals /SD looks better but there coils although looking nice ,are weaker then MD&BASS lines // and the chrome MD’s looks sick.. if you can find them , I remove that black sticker on my amps for an all chrome look like old school surf board Amps because I’m old school ,but like New tech high current amps and that chrome looks classy as F*ck‼️

Absolutely. Actively crossover before the amp at the source.. be it on your headunit or your processor xx

I dont like that noise on the outputs... is that present on Bandas and Taramps???
@twentyonehertz Жыл бұрын
It's a characteristic of full bridge amplifier design, and subwoofers are typically not affected by it. If you ran tweeters on an amplifier like this, you might hear that noise.
@CL-yp1bs Жыл бұрын
@@twentyonehertz Thank you for the info! Yeah Sam told me its on both outputs (with no potential difference) .. except maybe a tiny bit but you cannot hear it on any subwoofers.. so that sounds right.
@PoXFreak3 жыл бұрын
Now Sam, as I'm looking at this board and design, doesn't it seem that this board can be upgraded to do much more power than rated? 4 more spots for output mosfets, one more rail capacitor and higher current ps mosfets and this thing could do well over 10k.
@barevids3 жыл бұрын
Nope. None of those things will let it do more power. You'd need new transformers to increase rail voltage.
@PoXFreak3 жыл бұрын
@@barevids do you think the main premise of having open spots for "extra" parts for be utilized as such? You did say in the vid that those irf 1404s' could be upgraded, and the drive circuit looks more than ample enough. I'm just remembering some of the old Zed built HiFonics 7 series amps and how they could be modded to do more.
@barevids3 жыл бұрын
I explained in the video, these amps come in 2ohm, 1ohm and 0.5ohm options. For the 2ohm version it needs greater numbers of higher voltage lower current mosfets in order to work reliably. For the 1ohm and 0.5 version, the mosfets are high enough current not to need so many. That's why there are spaces on the board.
