Glad this is real and not a scam. Priced that low with errors on their website make me pause. Mind you, I have 3 Strat types- a Tease, a Squier CV 60s and my modded Yamaha Pacifica 112. It would have to be really tempting for me to budge. Nice video, Brian!

Yeah at that price it was tempting for me to do a review, when it went down even further I got a second. I wouldn’t buy it at full price, much better out there. I’m going to wind up just giving them away to spread some new year cheer🤣

lol how?! 66 bucks is outright insane. I think across all gains, I was a fan of the middle/bridge Humbucker position. Sounds great all around!

Yeah middle/hum did sound the best. Pickups were kinda weak needing a boost in post. Full price I would not be happy with it, but at $66 I don’t see how you couldn’t

I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago on a lark, and I'm BLOWN AWAY. It's actually a great guitar. I mean not just a "great-guitar-for-under-a-hundred-bucks". This guitar is legit. It's got a nice weight to it. The neck is excellent. No fret sprout whatsoever... and the pickups are just fine. It's comfortable to play and looks cool. I've been playing it every day and my $1000+ guitars are getting jealous.

Nice man, I got a second one and it is equally the same. Pickups were ehhh. I would not buy this at the full price on Amazon of $179, with the regular $30 coupon still probably not. But under $100 absolutely, at $66 hell yeah. You've definitely been practicing. Keep it up! It's definitely a steal on that guitar. The first thing I'd do is change the tuners, a set up, and change the strings to D'Addario's 42 - 9. Most likely a Guyker tremolo, too

@SearchingForTone I usually get a loaded pickguard, and throw it in. But that one is a nice color. I'd swap the whole thing over to the original pickguard to simplify wiring and only have to reconnect the jack wires

Thanks for the review! After seeing a few more, I decided to take the plunge, this is my first electric and I love it! It was mostly in tune out of the box, just had to break it in a little bit. I don't know much about the "action", but it feels good to me out-of-the-box coming from an acoustic guitar player. Honestly its great buy at the price!

Donner is a great brand. Recently I bought an LP style for a friend for Xmas and it had an issue and they replaced it no fuss very fast. Great company, wide range of gear. In addition to guitars, I have an electric piano of theirs, a bunch of random folk instruments, and at my last church we used a Donner electric drum set.

Yeah I have a story on this one I was looking at it last night and I went to see if they were that price still. I did the coupon thing and was like wow it's legit. So clocked off of it on eBay or so I thought. My wife asked me what did you get for $66.11 and you can imagine my surprise I told her I didn't buy anything. Yeah I thought of a perfect use for it. Practicing mods at $66 U.S. can dabble in refret, desoldering, body refinishing, or even fabric top. I don’t know how these sold at full price though

Definitely a great base for a mod. 1 humbucker hot rail and 2 single coil hot rails would sound great. And a made in Mexico fender bridge. Brass but and a good set of tuners that thing would sound killer. Happy New Year Brian you and your family. O and pup's ..

I am curious why Donner is "Blowing" these guitars out at what appears to be near, at or even possibly below cost. That said, I already have two Squier Strats that I am very happy with and have no clue what I would do with one of these guitars, regardless of price.

I notice a lot of the affordable brands have introduced new levels of guitars that approach not so affordable ranges. I think that they might be getting rid of these lower priced ranges in an effort to raise the “affordable line”.

I’m so excited you nabbed these guitars at such a steal. Is it me, or is that headstock a bit big?! It looks very disproportionate to me, lol. The bridge sounds a bit wimpy as a single coil. I also don’t think I’m hearing much of a difference when you mix two pickups vs doing one of them on its own. I feel like the middle position on its own sounds best. The Jet guitar I won from Fret Not also has tuner issues - it’s the only major problem affecting playability. I can’t recall if Steve Cassidy changed out the tuners on his Jet guitars. I may have to ask him. Mine are extremely difficult to tune accurately - and it sounds like the Donner you have has similar issues as the tuners on my Jet. I play that Jet guitar a lot because it really is quite nice (and fun!), but I have waste a ton of time trying to tune and retune. I’d love to get my hands on some of those locking Guyker tuners when I can come up with the cash. I don’t know what size hole is reamed for Jet’s stock tuners, but I’m pretty sure Guyker probably offers a few sizes. I see you didn’t try the trem, lol. You also didn’t try my cellphone radio noise test, lol. 😂😂😂 You gave good advice. I’ve heard the higher priced Donners are really good. The lower priced ones are probably very hit or miss. But as you said, for $66, it’s a great platform to mod and try something cool!

Gig bags cost more than this. So, buy it for the gig bag, use guitar for learning setups, RF shielding steps, fret dressing, etc.
