Thank you for giving me the chance to see the house I was born and I was grown up. I am one of the civilian who survived from the heavy bombardment at Varoshia -Ammochostos by the Turkish air force during Monday July 22, 1974 which lasted from morning until 16.00 when the cease-fire started. When the smell of the explosives from bombs was everywhere. Since then I had dreams of my childhood. Now thanks to you I have pictures as well. Great job

I can't imagine the desperation of these people leaving the city in a hurry and losing their properties, I saw that 53% of the tourist revenue was from this city ... You were lucky Peter, my wife and i were arrested in Cyprus by the Greek Military for suspicion of espionage and held in a dungeon in Nicosia for 3 days just for taking some photos of the no go zone on the border, they thought i was spying for the Turks so obviously both sides have always been very sensitive about prying eyes. I have considered going to the North side for a holiday but i think i will give it a miss after watching this video as it looks a bit moody. Be careful mate, youve seen the film Midnight Express? lol
@NeverMindYourOwn6 жыл бұрын
Oh wow. In what year was that? And what no go zone did you photograph?
@regdrone3536 жыл бұрын
It was in the 90's, Nicosia was split down the middle with a no go zone. My wife and i got married the day before in Limassol. We had to go to the British Embassy in Nicosia to deliver some documents so that our marriage would be registered in the UK. The no go zone was just deserted and ghostly, everything left as it was for years after everything was quickly deserted by its former Greek residents, houses, cars etc. Being a young man i couldnt resist having a little peak and grabbing a few pics. It seemed like a great idea until i had guns pointing at me and was being ordered to stand very still :) at least i can laugh about it now but it wasn't a great situation at the time or a great start to our honeymoon lol

@craighoward82046 жыл бұрын
publi edos this was my point when I replied a few videos back saying he needed to respect the information at hand. That information was the many signs stating ‘no videos!’ People have been held against their will in many counties for much less and for many years without a trial. Yes it’s wrong, it’s clearly wrong and it doesn’t need to be justified by breaking their rules military rules. EVERYBODY in the whole world knows about North Korea and their actions against their own citizens let alone visitors to their country. Should that be challenged? Yes. Are you the one to take on that challenge by flying a video in the sky that justifies nothing? What you did here was quite silly and I respect you for squarely preparing and laying your balls on the chopping block. You could have quite easily been thrown in a cell if accused of spying. If you were to be made an example - they could have held you for as long as required with that recording. They could have then used your previous videos content as justification to further prove disdain in their favour with the weight you knew exactly what you were doing and still did it without remorse. You were very lucky Peter!

The cars are actually the Turkish army soldiers driving from base to base where the lookouts are. Their is a few hotels open there near the beach where only the Turkish soldiers and their families can go on holiday. It is definitely most not normal life.

It is very clearly the whole invasion was a planned illegal missapropriation of this huge economical potential tourist area. You have stirred up an scorpions nest my friend. There are obviously huge economical, military and political players in this “dirty business”They must be just waiting for the issue of “The invasion”to cool off to start rebuilding and make A HUGE profit out of this land. Warrior pilot you will never be Peter. There it is important to come unseen to the target, do what you have to do on the spot and then fly unseen away again. Uset means here you have to fly fast and low and not directly back where you are standing. It might be an idea you flew with one of the new quiet Mavic pro and looked around when it's dark. Then you can easily see which houses are in use on the light in the windows. Just remember to cover the lights on your drone with black ducktape before flying. Good story, fly safely.

@@NeverMindYourOwn It's always wise to know, which bear you can poke. For us, non-Turkish people, it's an occupied zone, but to men like Erdogan, it's national pride. He's the same guy, who not only made Putin wait 15 minutes and intentionally recorded in a down to upwards angle to emphasize Erdogan's height advantage even more, but also the same guy, who got permission from the American Secret Service that his men could beat protesters on US soil. Your goals are admirable, and the footage is priceless. As for the "law is the law" it could mean we're slaves to a government. It's something one needs to experience to understand. Once a state disregards treaties on international law and beholds its own citizens as tomorrow's enemy, they stop at nothing to recruit people into their ranks and hassle those who have committed perceived infractions. My father went on a class trip to Berlin, and they were close to Hitler's bunker, only to be turned away by a Soviet patrol (close proximity to the Wall). A few years later another class trip took him and a few of his classmates to the Western border, into the restricted zone. They were arrested for suspected border violation, as minors. As an adult, he wanted to marry a woman from the same restricted zone. To us, he said he didn't want to flee and that it was love, not escaping. He's a douchebag otherwise, but even still he didn't deserve to have a file, but he did, because everyone did who even wrote or talked about slightly misstepping. Just so that people understand, this never meant a file on them, but also wives, girlfriends, on the career options of their children. East Germany outside the USSR went the farthest by actually classifying people into worker and peasant class with the rest being petite bourgeoisie intellectuals or right out class enemies. Meaning I'm very glad it's over as my college and job prospects have been plagued by his file and my ancestors' role in being conscripted in an army fighting the Soviets, oh and having a relative born to my ancestors as they were POWs which meant said relative was eligible to emigrate (opted against it). My old reflexes are showing when you lost your balance coming off of the wall, my initial thought was (yeah the footage got deleted while he was assaulted outside prying eyes).

I wonder if it’s possible to fix one of those buildings and live there without getting in trouble. That would be living golden, No people, Nice beach, Nice Huge Buildings To Yourself with No payments, And It’s a beautiful place.

Are you daft? It's a no go zone and you would be arrested.

Try it and see how long you live. The Turks control it and they are not exactly famed for their mercy toward their enemies or their regard for human rights - they will shoot you on sight.

Also surprised you wasn’t caught since only 6 people are aloud to use drones in the Island. I know one of the 6 who are aloud to.

More balls than I have, I freaked out coming back from Palestine last year back into Jurselum on a visit to Israel and the guard just looked at me. How can Turkey control what you do (dictate what you can photograph and can't) if you are in Greece or territory they do not control?

I wouldn't try going over to the north again after publishing this, especially as they took your passport details etc!The Turkish military are very sensitive about Varosha and at best you will get refused entry at the border or maybe even detained and interrogated and then asked to pay a heavy fine etc!Not that I don't agree with your views about Varosha becausewe have a house there but this is the current situation......

So glad you published this. A timely reminder of a disgraceful act of aggression. Without intervention there's no way Turkey would hand this back to the rightful owners,so maybe they could home all their Syrian refugee Muslim brothers? It's such a horrific waste!

Great video and thank you for your upload! Well the only thing I want to say and share with you guys is that that's what being a turkey citizen mean! Being hateful suspicious and full of cruelty as there thirst for blood and capacity never end as we all Cyprus citizens know it from first hand very well!
