Question! Since the small intestine has a basic pH it must have a low concentration of H+ ions. Therefore, why is the H+ ion still considered to be moving down its concentration gradient when it to re-enters the enterocyte? Thank you :)

Quick question, don't the chief cells secrete pepsinogen, in an inactive form to avoid the stomachs own digestion, which is then activated by HCl and a positive feedback of raising concentration of pepsin?

Pepsin is secreted in its inactive form so that it won't digest the cells that produced it.

amazing vid and very clear in passing the knowledge. you may not know of it but supplement bio gro. colostrum supplement. supposedly proline rich peptides being reaponsible for muscle gains. what are your thoughts.

i am lead to believe we can only aborb around 10 grams of protein per hour. after a workout at the gym if you eat a large meal with lots of protein immediately after how much could it help to absorb more protein if you consumed multiple proteases?

John. You absorb all of it as long as you are healthy. All of it. 100 grams in one sitting? Your body will absorb ALL of it. You will be better off consuming 1-1.5 grams of protein per LB of body weight. Eat up.

Actually according to the Institute of Medicine, the Daily Reference Intake (DRI) for protein is 0.8 grams per kg of body weight or 0.36 grams per LB. You can ask any Registered Dietitian and depending on the individual she might recommend 0.8- 1 gram per kg of protein.
