Still a valid workflow and method in 2022. Although TyFlow has almost taken over 3DS Max's Particle Flow, it alone is still an awesome beast to contend with. Thank you for sharing. You should come back to Max at least for a little bit. xD

hi, i have trying to figure out how to apply animation to this pflow, and clear guide to do this? i am a newbie and beginner in pflow, thank you very much
@ParticleSkull8 жыл бұрын
Her +Sporadic Studio In order to animate this, you'll have to add a "new in event" on the "# Particles" operator. Just like this: goo.gl/rh9Gdp Without it, pflow will multiply the number of particles by itself on each integration step creating almost an infinite amount of particles. Cheers, Alvaro

for other render engines that don't use vertex color, like octane, could you convert all the boxes to instances (it might even use less memory and faster to load), then translate vertex color to wirecolor (the object rgb color) - I can translate that each one to a material in octane with my script.. would work the same..
@ParticleSkull7 жыл бұрын
Hey man, I don't know if it's possible to make those instances but you can find a workaround for the vertex color thing using the Object Mapping operator /Alvaro

Hey +Jonathan Cheney, Yeap, 6 to open the Particle View (not on the numpad) M to open the Material Editor What do you mean by poly art? But I would say yeah, I can put all kinds of polygons there ;) Cheers, Alvaro

+Particle Skull images.naldzgraphics.net/2015/04/3-orange-low-poly-background.jpg i take no credit for this photo, i simply am using it as an example. This is what i meant. Also, i noticed that 3ds max 2016 has some extra options on the material editors and particle view, do i just ignore them, or should i delete them from the box?

great tutorial, tried it here in 2018.....probelem at 10:20 as soon as i wire in the Vertex Color Channel, 3ds Max crashes. Any idea why? I'm using Max2018....does it work for anyone else in this version of Max? so frustrating after getting this far....help please!

hey Jason, I'm actually not even working with 3ds max anymore because of these kind of prblems. I love the software but at some point i had to give up because autodesk will not give enough attention to 3ds and it will be like this forever. - Alvaro

Thanks Particle skull for reply. I did tried that but it was placing it randomly on the surface .And In data operator I did -select obj(plane) > geometry (no. of faces)>spawn.I did the above procedure to spawn the same no. of particles as the plane faces have and also did the new in event but it was multipying the particles by 2 . (Ex :- no. of faces *2) Sorry for my bad english .

@ParticleSkull10 жыл бұрын
Thx Frandos. Yeah it is! You'll have to add a "new in event" on the "# Particles" operator. Hey Keith. I don't know, there's a huge lack of content about this mostly because autodesk don't give a f about it. They implemented it in 2013 and never updated the software, help files, anything. Something really cool I did though, that changed my life in this way, was learning Houdini. Nowadays I don't use Max anymore, I don't need plugins and I have the latest CG technology avaliable every year with amazing updates. Totally worth it

@kirankudpane96767 жыл бұрын
My bad, I didn,t read the description. Though , can you explain me why it was multiplying and what "new in event" does?
@ParticleSkull7 жыл бұрын
hey Kiran, the "new in event" option will make the data update only when a particle is new on that event (only on the 1st frame, as soon as it get in the event). Whitout this Pflow will evaluate the data on every frame or integration step
