@Suno-ta-sei8 ай бұрын
Problem with the cane swords is alot of places have them straight banned. But i agree they should make a comeback
@TF2CrunchyFrog8 ай бұрын
Problem: Sword canes are forbidden by law in Germany. Because they are "concealed weapons" and having standing blades exceeding a few centimeters. You can _own_ an sword cane in Germany as a collector, but it has to be displayed in a locked case, with the sword out of the cane sheath. But you are technically forbidden to sell or buy one, so the only way to get one would be to inherit one. That said, I could've bought one at a gamer convention once and I really wanted one for a 1920s cosplay, but... I didn't.
@marvinmurphy55238 ай бұрын
As an American I fail to see why I can't make my own decision on what I want to arm myself with for self defense, yet there are many laws (infringements) telling me what and where I can have defensive items.

It's a shame he didn't explain the hobble skirt. That was literally lethal fashion resulting in several women dying due to the immobility. And it was sadly inspired by the first US woman (Edith Berg) who flew on an airplane tying a rope around her skirt to keep it from flying up in the wind as the airplane moved.

The suit jacket/sport coat bottom button thing still exists. A few years of styles relaxing was never going to make the look less less relaxed. Many jackets incorporated it into their design a long time ago, with the bottom quarters being a bit open for better ventilation and more comfort riding a horse

I don't know anything about buttoning suit jackets because I generally don't wear suits. Also I love the fact that Crocs are below foot binding on the bizarre fashion trend iceberg. Just get some real sandals, man. I still might have some lingering trauma from when I worked for an inventory service and we did a Crocs store. That shit smells worse than a tire warehouse. I looked up Mexican pointy boots to see if they have a real name but the Spanish name for them directly translates into "Mexican pointy boots" (Botas picudas mexicanas). Also pineapple on pizza is delicious, as long as it doesn't clash with the other toppings. I like ham (or Canadian bacon, same thing), mushrooms, and jalapenos (or habaneros if that's an option) on a pizza with pineapple. Wouldn't go well on my actual favorite pizza, which is an alfredo sauce pizza with anchovies, green olives, mushrooms, and Italian sausage. It's not like pizza sauces at most chain pizza places aren't too sweet anyway. Especially Papa John's, I used to work there and their sauce has way too much sugar in it for a good savory pizza.

A lot of fassion in history seems to follow the "look im so rich i can wear this incredibly impractical and fragile thing that needs 4 other people to tie it on" rule. Also "commor" corsets were apparently pretty loose and fairly comfortable, it was just rich women who went with the wasp waist and that was mostly to appease each other.
@MsAngelique8 ай бұрын
I think even most rich women were more reasonable with their corsets, and only their equivalents to trendy celebrities or idiots tried serious tightlacing. You don't even need to tightlace to get a small waisted look. Just add volume to the skirt or sleeves and you're good.

Hey @MrTerry hate to say it but you're wrong about the US moving into Hawaii for pineapples, there were indeed a number of Americans in Hawaii growing pineapples and setting up plantations, and they actually staged a coup at one point and tried to get the US to annex them like Texas, however the US basically told them to screw off and that they weren't going to recognize them and to put the Hawaiin monarchy back. It was a decade or two later that the US moved in, and then it wasn't exactly for economic reasons. The Hawaiians were doing a pretty good job of playing various powers with pacific interests (mainly the US, Britain and Japan) off against each other, but the Japanese started to get more and more influential as the US was eyeing Honolulu for a naval station and eventually the US moved in and more or less forced the issue, largely because Hawaii's location in the center of the pacific is extremely strategically valuable, the US navy still has massive facilities at Honolulu and there are large arsenals on the island housing a significant amount of the US munitions stockpiles since it's a convenient place to have them if we needed to run military operations anywhere in east or south asia.
