Saalfelden is my hometown. I was soooo blown away to see it mentioned here. I knew it was special for having been inhabited by hermits for that long, but I didn't think it was that special. But then again, it's only a short hike from the town and we used to do it when I was a small child. Also the hermits were always very friendly. A little nuget: since the hermitage is palced on the mountainside above the town it also used to be a good spot for firewatch, and hermits had a bell that would alert people in the town when there was a fire.

this skirt type still exist, it's mermaid dress/skirt with tighter part around knees or lower. many brides wear this style of wedding dress, because it makes your silouete more feminine. it's a bit harder to walk in it, but if you wear it only for occasions when you don't need to walk that much, no stairs or things like that, it's quite ok :D it's not so ggod to wear on daily basis :D
@anderskorsback41042 жыл бұрын
Also, wearing something that is impractical like that can serve as conspicuous consumption. You show off how rich and high status you are by wearing something that shows that you can manage without having to walk longer distances.

omg I've been to the hermitage in austria multiple times while the previous hermit was living there, unfortunately he had to move back down to a monastery due to health issues, the current hermit you mentioned in the video moved in shortly before we went there for the last time. the first time we went there we had some cookies with us and we shared them with the hermit, he liked them so much that we decided to bring him some every time we went to visit. if you're in the area someday I highly recommend visiting this place, you walk past an old castle on your way up (at least when going up from one side, the other is way steeper and was too dangerous when we first went bc I was just 8 or so and the last time my grandmother was limited by her age so we didn't try it either) and from up there you have a wonderful view. the church up there is small but beautiful, being built into the mountain, it has a big portrait of saint george the dragonslayer. I still have the gifts I got from the old hermit somewhere (he always gave me and my brother small things like a little imagery of saint george to put on a necklace) and I will always remember him fondly for how happy he made my grandmother and my late grandfather (may his soul rest in peace) with his blessings.
