Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 4600KC3 and BPS Formula limited edition - Baitcaster practice

In this episode, Willie takes out one of his original 90s Abu Garcia Ambassadeur's (4600KC3) and a new BPS Formula limited edition to see if he can hang with todays technology while also trying to remember how to use 30 year old technology. Which will get the best of him first? My money's on the geese.

I have to admit, they’re fun to use. Finding one that’s comfortable is the thing. I don’t use them enough to spend big money on one, or two, or 6… but I do seem to like the Ambassadeurs. Nothing wrong with a 45 or 4600 abu love those reels bullet proof I got 10 of them in several different ratios. Drag is stout and won’t let you down.

The Ambassadeurs are close to the only bait caster I can cast and that’s mainly because I just never got a feel for it but they are tough and torquey.. The largest one I had was a 5000 but it now resides in Oregon and catches steel head, sturgeon, and cat fish.. the need to be used, not sitting on on a shelf and that’s what it was doing here.. Hi Willie, very good video. I'm still confused about the difference between a baitcaster and regular reel! It looks like you bait the hook and toss them both out. 🤔 What were the odds of that fish having your hook and bait, with your hook and bait? 🤣 Plus being the last fish to catch. My goodness he was waiting for you this time. You are so right about those dang geese. I always tell my son, that their having a conference on the many ways to irritate us humans even more. They can be really ornery to. You crack me up so much. You have no idea how much I needed to see and/or hear this again. The fish swimming right back to you when you tossed him back, was a hoot. Really enjoyed the video! I know just what you mean about the geese, I've been there myself! At the same time that you were explaining the analogy of your movie being stopped, skipping and interrupted, my internet was paused for three (3) minutes. Not what's the odds of that! lol. Hey CJ!! I feel like I could get very use to the Ambassadeurs again. I’m gonna start looking for them. I had a really good time using them and feel more comfortable with the round style. And yes, those geese are extremely annoying to me. They have to be the dumbest animal on the planet. They’ll walk right in front of a 4,000lb car but will run from a person. I believe The KC3 designation on that 4600 indicates it was a special for Kmart stores. Otherwise very similar to all the other 4600C3 reels. Great reels overall, love to see them being used. Also, you remind me of an older Timothy Olyphant from the show Justified. 🤝

Hey there!! Thanks for that info..I’m gonna look into that because I bought it new when I got it but can’t remember our Kmart ever selling anything that nice😂. I have a few of them and that particular one performs better than the others. I did however just take a 4600c4 to a professional for a good cleaning, maybe it’ll rank pretty high. I’ll have to look into who this fella so I’ll know rather to be offended or not🤔😉. Again, thanks for the info and for watching, I appreciate it. Fling away!! That is correct the k means it's special to Kmart and the c3 is the amount of bearings the reel has

If you are having that much difficulty with the ABU, try servicing it. The 4500/4600 reels are extremely good at casting lures. I also noticed that you were holding the rod and reel wrong, this could also result in poor casting. I think that you just need to service the reel, set it up correctly for your lure weight and practice, practice, practice.

Well, as I said, it’s probably me not the reel😂. I should be practicing more with them but I find myself fishing such light and Ultra light baits that a baitcaster isn’t all that much of a necessity. At one time I was actually a lot better with the ambassadors then I am now and if I put in the time and effort I would definitely get there again. There’s a technique that I just never acquired. Lol, I enjoyed it Brother, no doubt but I “truly” enjoyed the Ambassadeur. I’m sure that a “high dollar” baitcaster is a functioning work of art but that money I don’t need to spend. These guys are fine and you can’t miss what you’ve never had🤣. I was fun and I can definitely see them coming out to play a lot more this spring/summer. 😉
