A Call to Unity: Remembering Islam's True History When Abu Sufyan accepted Islam, it seemed unthinkable. His family had never embraced the faith. Yet, he surrendered to Allah's will. But, contrastingly, Yazid's chilling words upon receiving Imam Hussain's head - "If my elders were alive today, they would be so happy. Today, I took their revenge" - expose the sinister motives of those who hijacked Islam for power. This pivotal moment in history highlights the struggle between the Prophet's message and the lust for dominance. The Banu Umayyad's transformation of the caliphate into a monarchy deviated from the Prophet's vision. The tragedy of Karbala (680 CE) became a symbol of resistance against oppression. Lessons from History: 1. Critical evaluation: Question historical accounts and motivations. 2. Return to Quran and Hadith: Seek guidance from Islam's foundational texts. 3. Unity: Transcend sectarian divisions, embracing Islam's oneness. 4. Spiritual over worldly: Prioritize faith over material ambitions. A Prayer for Unity: "O Allah, grant Muslims strong faith and protect them from the falsehoods of history written by hypocrites. Unite us under Your banner, following the Prophet Muhammad's teachings. Guide us to stand against oppression, just as Imam Hussain did." The Prophet's Message: Islam is a faith of unity, justice, and compassion. Let us reject sectarianism and reclaim our shared heritage. A Call to Action: 1. Seek knowledge: Study Islamic history, Quran, and Hadith. 2. Promote unity: Engage in inter-faith dialogue and community building. 3. Stand against oppression: Support marginalized communities. 4. Revive the Prophet's legacy: Embody compassion, justice, and mercy. Together, let's rediscover Islam's true history and unite under the banner of faith, rejecting division and oppression.

Assalamualaikum Sh. Omar. I hope you see this. I've recently rediscovered Islam and your lectures have played a major role in clearing my confusions and doubts. May Allah bless you for it. With this acknowledgment firmly in mind, I want to say that I wish you hadn't covered this man in this series. The only new thing I learnt about him is that he lost both his eyes in the way of fighting for Allah. But we know he was a ferocious fighter and he fought ferociously against Muslims too. So I don't know what to make of that supposed bravery. He stayed loyal to the Muslims after the Fatah but we know he was a diplomat and a strategizer. Maybe he knew what was at stake if he switched sides. The mercy Prophet Muhammad pbuh showed him speaks more about the Prophet's character than anything this man deserved even if just to politically win him over. He raised mauwaiya who went on to fight Ali R.A. Under muawaiya, Ali R.A was mocked and slandered in front of people. I fear that you may cover muawiya too now in the series. I'm genuinely afraid of that now. Because if you do, who's going to be my teacher? Who will I follow and trust? May Allah have mercy on me and you don't go that far in your respect for whoever you want to respect. I have nothing against that. But please just consider this text if you see it. I'm not sure if I've been able to convey my feelings properly. I pray Allah puts in your heart not to cover personalities that are the source of deep hurt for so many Muslims, especially if those personalities aren't pivotal in the Islamic understanding. May Allah have mercy on me. May Allah have mercy on all of us.

just so you know Ahlus Sunnah love Muawiyah and many consider him as the writer of Quran etc. I wont be surprised if an episode is dedicated to him. This whole family is questionable- his wife chewed Hamza’s liver, his son is Muawiyah, his grandson is Yazeed the killer of Al Hussain- the grandson of the Prophet.

I respect your genuine will for learning, i’m in the same boat and I don’t understand why sheikhs/imams hide certain truths from the ummah when it can be useful to understand our history and thus better understand our deen. Our deen says humans are fallible, and humans are able to learn from mistakes, why the insistence on hiding it/giving an incomplete picture of the whole truth? Just because someone has done a bad deed doesn’t mean he’s all good and vice versa. Why nitpick truths, rather than teach people that it isn’t all black and white so they can use this insight to better apply their deen/face life, i also wonder how he’ll tell muawiya’s story.. I hope sheikh omar answers us

May Allah keep you and us all firm on the truth Ameen! My position is the position of mainstream Sunni scholars throughout history like Al Dhahabi and ibn Hajr. We neither put the last converts on the level of the earliest companions and family of the Prophet ﷺ, nor do we diminish them or bring them down to our level. Everyone has their promised rank, and we love all the companions and find wisdom in their stories. As for Yazeed, his crimes are well known and he is not a companion. My position is that of Imam Ahmad who said no one who loves the Sunnah could love Yazeed. When he was asked why he doesn’t curse him, he said to his son “when have you seen your father cursing people?” In any case, I do not deviate from the mainstream of Ahlus Sunnah on these figures, and believe their position is sound and rightly guided. May Allah guide us all! Ameen

Under Muawiya May Allah be pleased with him 'Ali ibn Abi Taleb May Allah be pleased with him was not cursed. This is a shi'i (deviant) interpretation
@madihariaz8 ай бұрын
@@hamzakhairi4765 He was. There are authentic ahadees about it. Friday sermons were used and encouraged by the government to slander Ali R.A. Mauwiya created or helped create/sustain the environment where what yazeed did become possible. Atrocities like yazeed's don't occur in a vacuum. It's not like one day things were fine and then suddenly yazeed came into power with such deep hatred for the Prophet's family and went on to massacre them all. There's a context to it, and in our desperation to respect all companions no matter what, we shut our eyes and ears to some of the worst things these later companions did. And keep in mind, they are called companions just on technicality, these people who entered Islam such late didn't really give up a lot for Islam. I'm not a shia and I don't consider myself a sunni either. I think both of these groups are extremists. One hates earlier companions and the other revers the later ones to an extreme that they are not even willing to accept their crimes. For people like me who are somewhere in the middle, who loves the Prophet's family, his companions, and friends...there is very little space for us. I don't follow shia scholars because I don't believe in their insistence or concept of imamat. I stay away from most sunni scholars too because they force to make people like mawiya and Abu Sufyan mainstream. I mean it's okay if you want to respect them privately, but why amplify their stories and why normalize them? They committed serious crimes and unlike Omar R.A (who was really strict and therefore not readily accepted as Abu Bakr R.A was as the khalifa) they have almost no contributions towards Islam. Omar R.A gave it all up and risked his life, limb, and livelihood for Allah and Islam. These people just enjoyed the perks Islam brought them. Anyway, what you and I personally feel about personalities in Islam is our own responsibility. But when we use a platform to highlight stories and people, we must be extremely careful. I'm sure Sheikh Omar is just showing his commitment as a sunni scholar and highlighting all companions with equal respect. I may disagree with it but at the end of the day it's his platform and his decision to make. I'll continue following him, accepting what's in line with what Allah and the Prophet pbuh say, and letting all the rest go. May Allah have mercy on all us, and may He guides us to the straight path.

Before Allah the human relationship has no value but it is the character of the person that is important. As such, the wife of the Pharaoh Aasia is a sign for the momins (Chapter At-Tahrim peated thoundsVerse - 11) and wives of two prophets Hazrat Noah and Lot (علیہ السلام) are signs for the pagans (Chapter At-Tahrim Verse -10). Therefore, we must respect Sahabas based on the criterion provided by Quran.

@@fadaik Simple formula given for SALVATION by Prophet Muhammad (SW) follows: “I am leaving two weighty things Qur’an and my itrat (Ahlul Bayt), they will remain enjoined till they meet me at the pool of Kawthar on the Day of Judgment. If you remain associated with them surely you will not go astray”: “My Ahlul Bayt are like ark of Nuh, who so ever comes on board would gain salvation and who remained away would drown and perish” and that “Hussain is from Me and I am from Hussain” (Sihah Sittah). @@fadaik Genealogy of Banu Umayyah Abd Shams and Amr (Hashim) were the twin sons of Abd Manaf, the ruler of Makkah. Manaf belonged to the Quraish tribe and was a descendant of Hazrat Ibrahim bin Hazrat Ismail. Abd Shams was a self-centered and enterprising man while Amr was a public figure and was called Hashim because of his generosity. Hashim became the Chief of Makkah after the death of his father Manaf. Hashim lived long and after his death Mutlib younger brother of Hashim took over because Shiba son of Hashim was too young to shoulder the responsibilities as Chief. Later, Mutlib handedover the charge of chief of Kaaba to Shiba who is known as Abd Muttalib. Abd Shams had no children and he bought and adopted a slave child Umayyah. Umayyah's son Sukhar kept a stray woman Fakhta in his house and from her Harb (Abu Sufyan) and Umm Jameel were born. Umm Jameel. was married to Al-Uzza (Abu Lahab) and both of them were condenmed by Allah in Surah Lahab due to their hostility towards Prophet Muhammad (SW). As such, the genealogy of Umayyads is connected with the slave Umayya who remained the enemy of Hashem and this enimety continued in his descendant. Umayyads were called descendants of a Slave on three occasions: 1- On the occasion of the conquest of Makkah, the Holy Prophet said to Abu Sufyan and his followers, "Go away you the descendant of a freed slave, I have forgiven you. 2- In the letter written to Muawiya, Mawla Ali (ES) wrote, "Descendant of a freed slave how can you compare yourself with the emigrants?" (Nahj al-Balagha: Letters to Muawiyah) 3- In Yazid's court, Bibi Zainab(SE) addressing him said, "O child of a freed slave, how dare you tallk to us...."

Indeed he was and they are not on the level of the early companions as I’ve made clear while covering this last batch, but the position of ahlus sunnah is still one of reverence and respect and that they’re all better than us.

Masallah barekellah. Excellent to listen to his story. That Allah has given him a gift of iman. So many similarities with what is happening in Gaza, they then also didn't understand how Muslims can still love our Prophet pbuh enduring all kind of tortures and on a wordly view a bad situation. May Allah turn the hearts and give iman

Not interested in this man. May Allah deal with him and his progeny as He sees fit.
@pavelrofkowicz25185 ай бұрын
I agree. While I believe that Allah chooses the martyrs from those he sees fit, I believe men like Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl (R.A), Suhayl ibn Amr (R.A), and Abu Sufyan Ibn Al-Harith (R.A) proved their worth after their acceptance of Islam. Ikrimah was the hero of Tabuk, Suhayl stood up to the nigh-apostasy of the Meccans, and Abu Sufyan (Al-Mughira) Ibn Al-Harith is known for his exemplar worship and repentence... That being said, only thing I can think of when it comes to Abu Sufyan (Sakhr) ibn Harb, is his obsession with power and status even after Islam... That later culminated in Muawiya falsely claiming the caliphate, and Yazid killing Al-Hussayn (R.A)... Yet according to many scholars, we're expected to see all companions as equals and flawless examples, no matter who they are or were... Well, Abdullah ibn Ubayy ibn Salul was a companion, and he was the chief hypocrit. Dhu-l-Khuwaisira was a companion, and he eventually led to the emergence of the Khawarij. Busr ibn Arta'a was a companion as well, and he was the first to capture and enslave Muslim free women and sell them in the market as slaves. I do not, of course, agree with the bloody spectacles and wailing of the Shiaa, but anyone who equals Ali to Muawiya is a psychopath.
