One of my most prized possessions is this film's soundtrack on vinyl. It has been the inspiration for many of my best creative projects. The film also serves as a beautiful living painting when your social gathering needs a subtle sense of unease.

Fun fact: Terr (the MC name) is short for terrible in french but also means the Earth (La Terre), which is how they call the artificial satellite wherein humans settle in the end. One of the many many reasons I love this movie is because it can also be read as a genesis.

Good reaction and review! Thorough and objective analysis. I saw it in the Cinema Theater in Seattle when it came out- the same theater that had lines around the block when Star Wars came out, in '77. I sat near the front, and was mesmerized! I've never seen anything like it, since. It blends the earthiness of the Ohm's plight along with the transcendental nature of the Draags in a way that takes us into another realm.

The album of this film is my favourite album of all time. I can’t get enough of it, I listen to it at least once a week. The song strip tease in the album especially magnificent. This song and other similar songs on the album are perfect a listen for a day out in the wilderness coupled with and easy dose of psilocybin, contemplating the strange reality it is that you are alive and aware, and the land you see around you is what birthed you.

A critique or differing opinion of mine I have to voice: I actually don't think it is about the human - animal relation rather colonialism and racism. We never waged genocide in the depicted way on animals but we did on other humans. The idea of revolution against an oppressive & murderous system designed against a lesser civilization fits perfectly into historical colonialism and mirrors so many aspects. Also the similarity of physiognomy between om's & draags points to this as well just like with black & white people. But of course everybody can interprete it in their own way, I guess this is also just the history buff in me reading into it.

I use to be a huge fan of this! Roland Topor use to make experimental theater with Alejandro Jodorowsky and Fernando Arrabal. So the themes are similars in the decline of human moral and sense to money and fame. I know pictues of this were really popular on tumblr too. Thanks for the mention of the original title 'cause ''fantastic'' doesn't make any sense to me relating to this film. Oms = pronounce ''homme'' meaning ''man'' (as in mankind) Terr = like ''terre'' meaning ''earth'' Brainiac also have a great song called ''Draag'' in reference to those friendly blue people. ♥

I’ve been watching your channel for the last few days now and I enjoy your work! also if you’re interested in music that’s from a disturbed mind I’d recommend you take a look at John Frusciante’s Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-Shirt from 1994. The entire album was recorded when he was addicted to heroin and was going down a deep spiral of depression and the album deals heavily with his depression and addiction. It’s honestly one of the most tortured albums out there and if you’re interested in stuff like that, I’d recommend you take a took at it.
