I played this song to my dad. He's a Lutheran minister. And my dad knew EXACTLY what was going on. And he gives RATM a massive thumbs up in two ways. One, in their message. Two, in their delivery. Damn, this is such a good song.

And that cowbell is definitely underrated lol I think about it every time I see this video 😂 Have you done Wake Up or Down Rodeo yet? Down Rodeo has one of the hardest and important lines they’ve wrote. And it’s not in the chorus. I was 12 when they came out and they absolutely helped shaped who I am and the things I care about even to this day.

If I wasn’t already subbed I would sub for more Rage. You know Zach has a few songs with Run the Jewels that are 🔥🔥🔥 Close Your Eyes (and Count to Fuck) and JU$T which has Pharrell on production as well as El-P.

This is a reaction to Rodney King beatings in LA. "Some of those that work forces" (some police 'forces') "are the same that burn crosses" (are racists - a reference to the Klan burning crosses) - "they're justified those that died" (its ok that some cops were killed) "for wearing their badge and their chose white" (a reference to the white robes and hoods worn by the Klan). This is saying that the killing of police officers and the LA riots were justified because of what some racist police were doing to communities of color. It's overall an expression of RAGE at what was going down in LA at the time.

I find it so funny when the crowd sings together "now you do what they told ya." Seems so ironic to me. Like in the movie, "Life of Brian," when Brian tells the crowd they are all individuals, and they chant back in unison, "yes, we are all individuals!"
