The Andromeda oh that’s not true! I even make vegan mangu (my mother in law always made it vegan and not intentionally, so I think a lot of times it is accidentally vegan). When I went to DR there was plenty for me to eat. There were even restaurants that was half veg and vegan, it was pleasantly surprising at first. My husband’s grand made us rice and beans. Plenty of fruit trees, there were a sh!tload of avocados when I went too. I’m not from DR but my husband is and he’s vegan, so. It is indeed possible and not so unusual. Best✌🏼🌱

nikor lopez nah, for me the face was just a little confused (which I sometimes get), as people don’t know what vegan means. But my grandmother understood what vegetarian meant. She use to make us the best rice and beans, lots of veggies and plátanos. She even went veg for a moment too (that didn’t last very long though 🤔). One of my friend’s who is from Nicaragua was vegetarian, then vegan for longer than I was. I think she even started in her country, she even got her family to follow. So it’s not so unusual, or disgusting 😐. There are plenty latin foods to eat too, just leave out the lard, animal broths and little hotdogs in the rice and beans. Best✌🏼🌱

I grew up in Miami and lived across the turnpike from 'Weh-shesterrr' in Village Green. We used to ride our bikes to Tamiami park to play Pop Warner football for the Tamiami Colts, hehehe. She smiled and said 'Entonceh eh-res Catolico no?'' and I replied 'Si Abuela' then she asked 'De donde son tus peee-puls? de Where ju frong?' I said 'I'm Irish'.' She responded with 'Ahhhh Eeeee-Rich, ju pee-puls drinky-drink too mush, pero son buen Catolicos.' Then she asked how long had we been in Miami, I said 'I was born here but my grandmother got off the boat.', Inferring I was second generation, Abuela replied 'Ahhh si?! We came in dee boat tambien.' This is youtube and most people don't like reading anyway so I'll try and keep it short. I'm Irish American and I married a Castellana immigrant. We were going to the same college in Colorado (where I'm from). La honestidad es la mejor política. So one by one I meet each of her family and each circumstance was different. (length of post prevents me from relating Papi and Mami first encounter.) Meeting abuelita was like an interview. Pilar (wife then fiance) stated she wanted to elope, Abuela was shocked, I fired back insisting we marry in the Catholic church. This was a beginning of a trend. Pilar played the rebel and I consistently took Abuela's side...in Spanish...and I asked for more tapas y café (even though I wasn't hungry). We left with Abuela wanting to help with the wedding and I told her that the most important job was hers, to pray the rosary for us. "Eres demasiado listo para tu propio bien," Pilar told me as we drove away.
