I am Muslim Hausa Man, I agree with all you say except we didn’t go against appointing an igbo man as an Imam over a Hausa person. Islam is not for Hausas or Yorubas or Igbos or Arabs. It is for everyone.

My friend ,where did you see bad comments from northerners not being happy about the appointment? Anyway, there May be but maybe one over fifty comments, But sincerely speaking, overwhelming majority of northerners are so much delighted and happy about this appointment, Because this will make our southern counterpart to understand that Islam is not the property of northerners ,but a religion of Allah who is not from the North. In my opinion if this nice gentleman acquired the required knowledge and piousness, which I believe he did, (Allah knows best) let him lead in that mosque till the end of his life, at least let the others take other aspects.

Saying Muslims complained about his appointment as an Imam is a total lie!!! All I've seen from Nigerian Muslims across all regions are goodwill messages. The major source of hate came from Igbos.

Based on the comments it’s safe to say he is talking nonsense about the north hating on the imam. I go to Yoruba mosques in Abuja and during the sermons it’s a Yoruba imam talking, followed by his Hausa assistant translating what he says.

The only qualifications to becomeing an Imam are: 1) must be a sane adult male Muslim 2) must be very knowledgeable 3) must be pious ie God fearing Who ever qualifies can become an Imam even in Ka’aba the holiest mosque of the Muslims.
