Exactly the fighting style of the rushin style was meant for assassin quick taps in and out but we see put up against a strong stance fighting form it didn't stand a chance.

Something I love about Gensai is he has no real gimmicks like the other fighters. Sure he has the devils lance but that's just conditioning and training rather than like going beast most super power nonsense. He really is just trained and conditioned and experienced. What a beast.

This is basically the moment when Rei lost his plot armor. Problem with the Lightning Spirit Style is that it has several major weaknesses 1: all the movements are linear. Which makes them extremely predictable. 2: it relies on the first move taking out an opponent. 3: its never meant for drawn out fights. Its first and foremost as assassination style. It consumes a shit ton of stamina to the point where performing even three consecutive moves is likely enough to exhaust you to the point of passing out. 4: the legs are crucial. Its the foundation and core of this style. If you so much fracture a bone, tear a muscle or even so much as get a sprained ankle of even a muscle cramp, the power of the moves is reduced to less than half. Fifth and final weakness. The natural counter to this style is a tanky build. A body thats meant to take a lot of hits and still keep going. The more the style is used the less effective it gets and then all five weaknesses listed are laid out for everyone to see. The only reason this style works is bc the people rei previously used it on couldnt withstand the first or second hits.

Gensai in my humble opinion has the best martial arts manga set up of all time. Because at the point the writer has introduced martial arts masters that are for the most part treated like fouder, so him being introduced like every other b tier martial arts master only to body the whole cast really changes the readers perspective not just on him but the whole world. Some rando homeless dude can come out and wreck one time then it can happen again. His existence really keeps the stakes and tension high in omega atlest in my mind. Simply because any new character can be a new gensai.

Poor rei. In some stories if he's not the lance, he's the mc. Plus, let's face it, he's built for the assassination game, not a tournament. Once he's been seen a few times he's predictable. At a point in the fight, gensai was just a masher at the plate and his fists were the bat.

Everyone is weak against Kuroki it's not a shame to lose against him when he's legitimately the second strongest character in the series. Against anyone else his final move would have worked, but it depends purely on the person whether they can take a hit from it or not.
