Love you guys. I have a fiancee in Guayaquil, and your insite into the country is very helpful, because I too, am from North America. I have been waiting for a fiance visa in USA that I sponsored her for, and plan to return to Ecuador in seven years, or sooner. I fell in love with the country, culture, people, nature, food, etc. The people I talk to here, think I am crazy. I am happy I found people like you that have the same love for Ecuador

Great pod! With respect to land prices at first glance it seems expensive, especially when I compare it to my home in rural Nova Scotia and converted to Cdn $$. However, having been there I realize you have to look at the whole package incl construction costs etc. I can easily get what I would someday want for approx $150-$170k US all in. Incredible value in my opinion.

The more I watch your videos the more I'm considering the area. But I wonder as a single woman (christian, free of shots, open minded) How it would be (I don't own a car and don't wish to, maybe a scooter but I think the roads are not scooter-friendly?) Also another criteria that I have... is there a lot of mosquitoes, like do you need to use repellent on a daily basis?
@AbundantLivingEcuador Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Vehicles offer some convenience but are not necessary living in or close to Vilcabamba. The roads in town are definitely scooter-friendly and there are quite a few scooters in the area. Brandon has lived here for over 2 years without a vehicle as the taxi, bus and van options are plentiful and flexible. Bugs in general are not oppressive here in the valley. Mosquitos are not prevalent and we don’t typically need to use bug spray. We sometimes get cycles of no-see-ums but they’re generally not oppressive either. Hope that helps! Send us an email to info@abecuador.com with any other specific questions you have and we’d be happy to share what we know and help where we can! Sounds like we’d love to have someone like you in our community!

Muy amable, gracias !! I lived 2 years in amazonia and a splitted-year in sierra and on the coast ... interested in moving to a safer place where I won't be confined to my appartment after 6pm everyday. Another attractive point about Vilcabamba is that the community seem to be younger than on the coast, where expats are mostly retreated people. I'm in mid-forties and not there yet. Thanks for your good advices and words, again. Will send you an email when plans gets more clear about a potential move. :) @@AbundantLivingEcuador

Hey guys great vid! Looking into a move there, it sounds like everything our family needs. Question-my kids are big time into motorcycles and ATV riding, is this an issue with any of those items? Also, tell me about the wildlife, specifically snakes, spiders, and anything else I may need to be aware of. Thanks, keep up the informational content.
@AbundantLivingEcuador Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Motorcycles and off road motorbikes are very common and available here. There is even a small motocross track in town! ATVs are a bit less common in this area, but still exist and are readily available. You will see some folks driving ATVs to and from town as well. As far as bugs? They’re generally not an issue. Mosquitos aren’t oppressive, but you occasionally see cycles of no-see-ums. Spiders exist but aren’t typically a problem either. There is a golden orb spider season but they are generally harmless. There aren’t really any many “predator” animals in the valley. There are occasionally poisonous snakes but they’re generally not a problem, just something to be mindful of. Brandon has been here for over 2 years and has still yet to even see a snake! Hope that helps a bit! Send us any other questions you have to info@abecuador.com and we’d be happy to help you and your family make the visit as smooth as possible. Great handle, by the way! Talk with you more soon!

Have any of you read the Wall Street Journal article “ Ecuador Was A Retirement Paradise for Americans, Then the Drug Gangs Arrived” yet? if not, please do. Hey guys! Your comments about the power outages in Cuenca reminded my of some articles I read about Ecuador being a power surplus country in the region that actually sends electricity to Columbia and Peru. So, I was wondering if you could speak to the situation there... I also read they want to replace ICE cars with electric cars eventually and will mandate that taxis start to convert over. I'm very interested in this stuff, as I drive electric. So, I was very surprised about blackouts in Cuenca! Does Ecuador plan to use more solar since rain could get unpredicable due to Global Warming? Does Ecuador plan for possible GW problems? Would be interested in anything you'd like to add.. Thanks

To say that you have virtually no impact on the local market when you have one of, if not the loudest voice in the region, is not being honest with yourself or others. People that choose media to support their interest will always effect the market. Just be honest. The loudest voice will set the trend, almost always. I'm not judging you at this point. Let's just keep it real.

Hi Daniel - thanks for the comment. Are you new to the area? We definitely pride ourselves on being visible and showcasing what we love about this amazing region of the country! From the world wide web it’s hard to understand the market and local demand mechanisms. Expat demand is truly a small fraction of the demand volume in our region. Thanks for sharing your opinion and for watching!

Did Carl's coming to Christ cause him to go from the 90lb weakling to Sampson? I enjoy seeing your Christian heart show through like giving candy to the children at Christmas time.
