Isaiah 53:5 New King James Version 5 But He was wounded[a] for our transgressions, He was [b]bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes[c] we are healed. In line with this passage (_And by His stripes[c] we are healed._). Does the healing refer to the healing of the body when one is sick or the healing of the soul (cleansing of sin)?

The truth is that Christ was not wounded or nailed to the cross for human physical sicknesses but for spiritual sickness which is sin..His blood was shed to wash away our sins. 1John 1:8.. Isaiah was prophesying that Jesus was wounded to take away our sins.. Rom.5:8. The below passage makes Isaiah 53 plain. Peter 2:24. 24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
