''Chelsea and Man City are free hits'' ''who are we going to get in?''- ''if we get to Christmas and we are garbage AGAIN '' oh God the state of some of our fans - this man must have high ambitions in life

The old "who would you bring in?" argument. An instant credibility killer.

Such a good point when you think of the potters and others linked with the job they've never been managers , they've always just been coaches with little say in signings or what happens at the club

A teenager broke wind in front of John's face whilst buying trainers and he couldn't even get an apology from the cretin's father. It was about to kick off when John got booted from the store. Should've gone full Payet.

"if you get rid of Arteta, who would you get in as coach?" Literally anybody. Sam Allardyce is a better coach. Eddie Howe is a better coach. Sean Dyche is a better coach. Graham Potter is a better coach. Thomas Frank is a better coach. Even Tony Pulis is probably a better coach. See where I'm going with this? Successive 8th placed finishes. Need I say more.

100%. It's such a lazy argument. As if they ouldn't bring in Howe or Potter and give them a chance. Why not? If it doesn't work, it doesn't work, but why can't another manager get the opportunity? Also, I hear people say "well, Conte wouldn't come in." So the ONLY alternative is a guy with zero managerial experience. It's like you've only got two options: top level, elite manager or...guy who has his coaching badges. As if no-one exists in between both extremes.

@@patrickdoherty4527 Exactly, been hearing these crap lazy arguments for 15 years, its just an excuse not to get rid of him. As Mattew said literally anyone, the Brentford guy- Who cares? If he fails just get someone else like Chelsea until one of them works, people have got to lose this fantasy about finding the next Wenger who will last 20 years, those days are gone.

@@patrickdoherty4527 100% but it's also a cultural problem too in that in this country, we don't seem to promote coaches who have done well further down the pyramid. Take Klopp and Tuchel as examples, they are elite coaches but they made their way up through Mainz initially and then Dortmund. Ancelotti's another one. He went through a succession of Italian clubs I believe before landing his first big job at Milan(?). In this country when a manager of a club like Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal etc leaves, how many times are they linked with a coach already in the English game? Very rarely. It's why coaches like Dyche, Howe and Potter get stuck in limbo - no-one of a "higher ilk" gives them opportunity. Nuno only got his opportunity because Spurs were rejected by about 10 other coaches

@@Matthew-bu7fg Yeah! How must a guy like Eddie Howe feel? He worked very hard, came up through the ranks, had highs and lows, lots of experience, still young...and Arsenal would rather a guy who literally has never managed a game. Realistically, a lot of Arteta's appeal is based on him not being English. Funny enough, people were snobby about Brendan Rodgers because he's from Northern Ireland. Weird attitude! As you say, Nuno was far from first choice but he's not a bad manager. If Arsenal had sacked Arteta in the summer and hired Nuno, I would have been a lot more optimistic.

Not if Arteta goes, when. The tired argument of "who then", AW has been gone for 4/5 years and that old line is still being used to justify inaction. The player quality is improving but results stay the same. Second after Christmas is arbitrary metric used to back up a weak argument. When 33 year old Aduba & 30 year Laca don't magically fix the team, you better keep the same energy.
