I’d LOVE to get a DCS Bartok with their balanced headphone output set up…a one box solution ( streamer , DAC headphone amp ) 🥳

Very nice episode, I like hearing these kind of system setup discussions.

I have both the 1266TC Complete and Diana Phi as well as the Formula S/Powerman setup with JPS Lab cables. Love it all. Would like to ask that for us folk that just really don't want to get involved with tubes either because we don't care as much for the sound or in my case I don't want to have to deal with tubes and their decreasing quality over time until ... yep, you get to replace them at a lot more money, that you give us a recommendation(s) for a solid state amp alternative for the TC1266. Great equipment, great service and great people at Abyss/JPS. Thanks for what you do.

Chord Dave with Blu MKII and Lake People Niimbus amp, by far the best headphone combo I have ever heard. Using a Naim Ndx2 as source.

Really looking forward to the XIaudio K-DAC. Im in desparate need of a R2R dac to pair with my Diana V2 and GS-X mini. All the R2R dacs currently on the market (that are good) are sadly very large like the Sagra. I hope it has both RCA and XLR out.

I have two of your JPS Labs Aluminata power cords... A talk about these would be interesting...
@yungsonar28902 жыл бұрын
If they actually make a difference, whats the difference between an Almuninata and a cheap ac cord. Is there an audible difference?
@neilwood87942 жыл бұрын
Yes night and day.. If system is up to it... The difference on these is huge... Improvements to the noise floor, texture of the instrumentation and a greater sense of realism.

Formula S really benefits from the Powerman, just improves most aspects of the Formula S. I bought mine a week after getting the Formula S. I had heard about the improvement that I could expect but it still surprised me when I heard it. Using a Denafrips Pontus II at the moment but sounds like getting a Sagra might be the next logical step to complete my setup

At CanJam several of auditioned the 1266 on the ampsandsound Nautilus and it competes with the WA33. Not quite as neutral which I like.

And I'm just sitting here with my diana v2 on my topping d90 & a90 stack just loving it. But now I want to spend 13 grand on a amp and dac now.

I got the Bifrost 2 / Jotunheim 2 / Lyr 3 / Lokius setup. The Lyr 3 has 9 watts of power into 16 ohms. Jotunheim is class AB but has 7.5 watts into 16ohms. It’s not apparent to me you need to spend more than this as Schiit has done a great job bridging the gap between price and performance.

I previewed your 1266's at CanJam in Irvine last week on Wells Audio's Cyphr DAC and Dragon Hybrid Tube Headphone Amp. Great sound The Dragon 1 sells for $1,500. The Dragon has four gains settings. I was listening to the third gain stage at only 9:00.

I think the Ampsandsound Nautilus is a great pairing with the 1266 and the Bartok

I would really like to add the Formula S to my PHI TC, but I think the EU price of 4500 € is a bit excessive in relation to 3500 $.
@tazeru2 жыл бұрын
US prices never include sales tax that is dependant on which state you are getting it. It is added at checkout. EU prices on the other hand always include VAT. So don't compare pre-taxed prices to EU, the difference is usually less than you think

I love the videos you guys put out! I finally pulled the trigger on the Diana V2's and I am going crazy waiting for them to arrive. After quite a bit of research, I think the amp I'm going to go with is the Linear Tube Audio MZ2 - by chance has anyone here had any experience with the pairing? Thanks guys!

If $40k will buy you the best of the best headphone system, just imagine how much more you’d have to pay for an equivalent loudspeaker system. It’s all relative.

I'd say an order of magnitude more. Would much rather own a Ferrari at that point as it would sound better than any music ever could!

@Abyss team - how confident are you that you could reliably pass a blind test comparing the Diana v2 on something like a Magnius / Modius and other $400 stacks, vs. some of the more expensive gear you recommended in this video? There's a new narrative in the audiophile communities I attend that (solid state) gear got good & cheap and that there's no reason anymore for DACs and Amps that cost $1,000+++ What are your thoughts?

$7k for the entry level. There's got to be a way to make headphones that don't need all this extra stuff.
@bladelefusyn33372 жыл бұрын
There are, many endless options. But either the dac/amps are built-in for those cans or are provided by your phone/pc/portable audio player. However, those are nowhere near as good as an external dedicated dac and/or amp. Meze's 99 Classics are excellent without needing anything extra and sounds excellent (does sound better with gear). Or their flagship Empyreans, don't need anything extra to run easily (but quality definitely scales with gear). And most dongle dac/amps are a lot cheaper in comparison and more portable. More than enough options whichever way one chooses to go, Trust Your Ears & Enjoy the Music. Cheerio

There is a way but it just doesn't sound as good. You gotta pay to play.

I own Sony MDR-Z1R cans and power them with the WM1A Walkman, no amp. I think they're pretty darned good headphones, the combo sounds pretty great, and the MSRP is 2900 total. So based on my experience, high end headphones that sound great can be efficient, too.
