I like how while Scream conveys the plight of the Keywards, Silent Scream does the same thing for Proto-Carbuncle (and presumably other experiments) without vocals but stronger instrumentation. . The beasts can't speak, but you can hear and feel their pain nonetheless. They were victims of Hephaistos just like the Keywards were.

Really like the way this fight incorporates the aspects of Carbuncle that the majority of the Final Fantasy fanbase know it for, that being its ability to create Reflect barriers to bounce magic back. Made for some really interesting mechanic dodging. Got to admit, the poison is a new touch I wasn't expecting either

The funny thing is that the FFIV(?) fight with the monster-carbuncle (which is where you get the summon version) happens over a pool of poison/acid that you need to walk through to get to the chest to trigger the fight. So it makes sense.

The reasoning is that in ancient Judaic belief, carbuncles (the gem stone, garnets) had protective powers against poisoning. The creature 'Carbunclo' is from south american belief of a magic animal that produced carbuncles as a treasure.

I believe it absorbs that poison power from the slime it eats after breaking out, since poison isn't used before that event. Don't know too much about carbuncles, but attuning to an element like that doesn't seem too far off.

I love me how at certain points during the song like at 3:17 and other parts of the song it sounds like many voices humming together.
